Customer Service Assistant 2 Temporary Position

This is an intermittent temporary position. The final candidate selected for this position will not be permitted to exceed 1000 hours worked per fiscal year.

What Youll Do:

The Bureau of Vital Statistics operates a statewide system for the registration of births deaths and other vital events that happen within the state of Ohio. We are currently seeking an experienced customer service specialists to provide information and communicate procedures to obtain or amend vital records. This job entails the following tasks:

  • Make telephone calls & emails stakeholders to inform them of changes to Ohios vital record system
  • Provide technical assistance to electronic data users (e.g. local health departments coroners funeralhomes hospitals) to properly enter & complete enrollment information in the electronicbirth/death registration system
  • Research & respond to customer inquiries for requestedinformation; prepares & sends information to customers (e.g. training documents accessrequests applications clarifying information letters)
  • Protect the privacy of confidential VSrecords & handles emergency requests from the directors office governors office & others(e.g. legal requests expedited delivery)
  • Review submitted paper death worksheets &contacts the listed physician to enroll them through the electronic pathway.

This position will report to 4200 Surface Road Columbus Ohio working in office Monday Friday during core business hours.

This position falls within the unclassified civil service status. Employees in the unclassified civil service of the state of Ohio serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority and may be removed from their unclassified position at any time for any legal reason.

9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in office practices & procedures AND 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in public relations or customer service that included techniques for handling difficult people AND 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in typing keyboarding data entry or word processing AND 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in operation of personal computer.

Or equivalent of Minimum Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Unless required by legislation the selected candidate will begin at Pay Grade 28 Step 1 of the OCSEA union Pay Range Schedule ($21.97 per hour).
