Job Description
Position Summary:
LVA is seeking an innovative and collaborative High School Math Teacher. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in advanced mathematics and the ability to confidently teach content ranging from Algebra II through Calculus II. The candidate should be wellversed in differentiating instruction promoting mathematical reasoning and utilizing smallgroup problemsolving strategies to build understanding and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Higher Level (HL) Mathematics courses within the IB Diploma Programme framework
- Instruct students across a range of math content from Algebra II to Calculus II
- Design and implement lessons that are rigorous inquirybased and aligned with IB standards
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students including advanced learners and those needing support
- Employ collaborative problemsolving strategies including the use of small groups
- Prepare students for internal assessments and IB external examinations
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan curriculum and assessment
- Communicate regularly with students families and advisors about academic progress
- Participate in professional development and contribute to a collegial school culture
Preferred Qualifications:
- PA Secondary Math Certification or ability to obtain
- Bachelors degree in Mathematics or a related field
- Experience teaching Algebra II PreCalculus and Calculus
- Strong content knowledge through Calculus II
- Experience differentiating instruction and using cooperative learning strategies
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and support students of diverse backgrounds and abilities
