POSITION TITLE: Paraprofessional 2025 26 School Year
FLSA CLASSIFICATION:NonExempt Hourly FullTime 10Months
REPORTS TO: Grade School Vice Principal
PRIMARY DUTIES OVERVIEW
Performs specialized work by assisting special education and classroom teachers K 8 as needed in instructing and supervising the activities of students with learning differences neurodiversitybased behavioral plans or physical disabilities to provide a wellorganized smoothly functioning classroom environment.
Supervises and assists children in the classroom lunchroom or playground by reinforcing rules procedures or protocols.
This Para may take direction from classroom teachers and support them during planning periods to prepare instructional materials for activities for students in small groups according to learning plans or special projects for learning interventions related to schoolwide assessments.
The Para must attend two onehour evening PD sessions monthly with the rest of the Grade School faculty and staff.
This position reports directly to the Grade School Vice Principal and works with the Inclusion Learning Specialist for scheduling and assignments and training and education in Special Education or Intervention practices.
The position requires flexibility to work under indirect supervision in various settings.
This position will receive one evaluation annually by a school administrator and may submit a selfevaluation recommendations for enhancements to the position and role training request plan.
QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors Degree is preferred or an Associates Degree or two (2) years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours) from an accredited institution or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test and one (1) year of experience working with children in an educational setting is acceptable. Must agree to take the staff course in CPR and First Aid.
Basic knowledge of child growth and development elementary instructional procedures and basic skills related to supporting children in the learning environment
Ability to reinforce practices for students in the Early Childhood (ages 25) Primary (K3) and Intermediate/Upper Elementary (4th6th) division levels
Ability to implement the Learning Specialists instructional plans
Ability to work collegially with faculty staff and administrators
Ability to assist with the implementation of (with guidance) an instructional program and to participate in monitoring and ensuring appropriate student behavior as required by the Learning Specialist or other school leaders
Ability to follow written and oral instructions and perform rolerelated tasks
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to receive and give feedback in a manner commensurate with a professional setting
Must be wellorganized and able to manage instructional materials and daily tasks efficiently
Capable of maintaining consistency and supporting students in a dynamic school environment

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Reinforces skills taught by the learning specialist classroom teacher or counselor.
Attends CARE team meetings as required and participates in inservice training programs.
Serves as a proctor for NWEA small pullout groups
Supervises and assists students on field trip lessons
Redirects student comportment appropriately to help students adjust behaviorally and academically and enter into mainstream classroom and social situations.
May assist in establishing and implementing behavioral objectives of students referred to the CARE team in coordination with the nurse learning specialist or counselor.
May coordinate or participate in special programs or projects as assigned.
May perform clerical tasks as required including preparing reports and records copying and filing papers or recording student assessment data.
Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Support the school as needed with assigned duties and class coverage.
May assist in physical care of students if needed
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand stoop squat and sit on the floor of periods of time
Lift and carry 3040 lbs
Normal visual acuity and field of vision hearing and speaking ability
Ability to work onsite during regular school hours
