Overview

Are you passionate about creating memorable experiences that bring people together and ignite school spirit The Coordinator of Campus Traditions is the heart of campus programming connecting students faculty and community partners to shape a vibrant and inclusive student experience. From signature events like Homecoming and Springfest to smaller regular activities like Late Night at the MUC youll coordinate the events that cultivate a strong sense of belonging and pride among students. Your role will also allow you to guide and support the next generation of student leaders as part of the Campus Activities Board advisory team. What Youll Do

  • Coordinate & Execute: Plan coordinate and execute major annual events such as Homecoming Springfest and Late Night at the MUC ensuring they provide educational social and cultural experiences that students will never forget.
  • Collaborate with Students & Partners: Work closely with students campus departments and community partners to create programs that promote student engagement and foster a sense of school pride.
  • Lead the Campus Activities Board: Help recruit train and guide the Campus Activities Board members supporting them in becoming strong event programmers and student engagement ambassadors.
  • Event Planning: Oversee the logistics of campus events including meeting scheduling committee coordination entertainment selection and contract management for speakers and performers.
  • Support Student Success: Serve on campus committees that create largescale collaborative events and initiatives that aid in student transition retention and success.
  • DataDriven Decisions: Collect analyze and review data to assess the impact of programs and use it to recommend improvements.
  • Promote Campus Engagement: Assist with the marketing of student events including promoting the Kimmel Engagement & Belonging Hub and the Campus Activities Boards programs.
  • Strategic Planning: Support the strategic planning and implementation of campuswide programming that aligns with the departments goals and enhances the student experience.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

  1. Bachelors Degree
  2. 1 year of experience planning programs and events


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in College Student Development Higher Education or related field is preferred

  • Knowledge of student development theory legal issues in higher education and risk management practices

  • Knowledge of antiracism diversity equity and inclusion (ADEI) theories and initiatives

  • Experience supervising student staff or graduate assistants

Illinois Residency Requirement:Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System outofstate candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position. Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Drivers License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days will result in immediate termination of employment.

Classification: State Universities Civil Service System Classification Number: 3266 SUCSS Classification Title. For more information on Civil Service classifications please visit the State Universities Civil Service System website at: who qualify for preference must provide proof of eligibility within ten (10) working days of submitting an application.
