Summary

Under the general supervision of the Office Manager the Warrants Clerk processes reviews and researches warrants. This individual communicates with other agencies to apprehend wanted subjects in other jurisdictions. The Warrants Clerk helps the public and supports law enforcement personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Duties include the following:
  • Documents civil and criminal warrants received including date stamping entering them into the county database processing sending courtesy letters and filing.
  • Enters warrants in TCIC/NCIC and validates warrants.
  • Researches and confirms warrant requests from other agencies.
  • Prepares paperwork for officers when an individual has been arrested or placed in jail clears subject from county and state computer systems and refiles warrant when another agency serves verifying a detainer is in place. Forwards out of county bond with a warrant to records division.
  • Processes and notates recall warrants and returns to theproper court.
  • Answers the telephone assists callers transfers calls or takes messages as appropriate.
  • Communicates with other agencies to attempt to apprehend wanted individuals in other jurisdictions.
  • Serves as backup to the Administrative Assistant I when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Attendance is an essential function of the job.

Mandatory Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required; and one (1) year of clerical experience or any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities to perform the essential functions and duties.

Desired Minimum Qualifications

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
