Job Description
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Swindon to assist with the appointment of a Waste Driver on a 3month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: 15.00 18.86 per hour
Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Waste Driver to join our Service Delivery team. This role is crucial to maintaining high standards in the collection of waste and recycling across the borough. As the driver and team lead you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of waste collection vehicles supervising a collection crew and delivering excellent customer service while supporting environmental and public health standards.
Responsibilities:
- Drive and operate large waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Perform daily vehicle checks basic maintenance (e.g. oil and water) and ensure cleanliness.
- Load and unload waste as necessary ensuring all waste is collected per the daily schedule.
- Complete and return daily logs reports and relevant paperwork.
- Supervise crew members and ensure the team maintains high standards of performance and customer service.
Requirements:
- Valid HGV licence.
- Proficiency in operating refuse/recycling vehicles and invehicle ICT systems.
- Understanding of tachographs and completion of related documentation.
- Demonstrated experience in waste or recycling collection services.
- Experience supervising a small team.
- Familiarity with daily vehicle operation protocols and health & safety standards.
