Are you a motivated portfolio support officer interested in working with a wide range of stakeholders such as SG colleagues and wider UK government

The post sits within Net Zero Transport Scotland Transport Strategy and Analysis Coordination Innovations and Constitution Team. This is currently comprised of a Team Leader 1 x Portfolio Coordinator and 1 x Portfolio Support Officer (this role).

The CoOrdination Innovations and Constitution Team have a varied workstream. This includes servicing Cabinet on a weekly basis overseeing and often providing advice on Cabinet papers leading on coordinating briefings for a variety of ministerial meetings and responding to ad hoc requests on a wide range of transport related subjects.

The focus of this role is to provide support for the Team Leader and Portfolio Coordinator. The role will be varied and offers a wide range of opportunities. This involves writing and leading on briefings coordinating transport wide requests servicing Cabinet overseeing maintenance of several documents used Transport Scotland wide and miscellaneous policy and parliamentary work.

The role has no direct line management responsibilities atpresent.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of briefings for Cabinet Secretary Chief Executive and DG. This includes populating briefings with existing material commissioning briefings to CBand policy leads and ensuring briefings satisfy ministerial preferences.
  • Supporting the Team Leader and Portfolio Coordinator in the team with briefings and advice to Cab Sec. This includes undertaking research working collaboratively with Transport Scotland and wider Scottish Government colleagues to put together draft responses and advice.
  • Supporting Transports engagement with Cabinetincluding assisting with coordinating contributions from Transport Scotland to weekly Cabinet briefings. Leading on this process when the B3 in the team is absent.
  • Taking a lead role in servicing weekly parliamentary processes.
  • Maintaining the currency of existing material across Transport Scotland for use in shortnote briefings. This includes maintenance and leadership of the Core Brief document and responsibility for commissioning updates on various forward look documents and trawls.
  • Overseeing a mailbox and actioning and delegating requests as appropriate. This includes ensuring emails are saved in line with audit requirements
  • Supporting the wider Transport Strategy and Coordination branch as necessary.

Working Pattern

Location

This post is based inGlasgow with hybrid working in line with current Transport Scotland policies. You will be expected to be office based twice per week pro rata.
