Job Description
Are you a problem solver that likes to work with your hands Do you want a job where every day is different If so this may be the perfect role for you! Hostel Shoppe is currently looking for one full time seasonal mechanic to be part of our service team in Stevens Point WI. We arent your typical bike shop though! We are one of the largest recumbent dealers in the nation and ship our products around the globe. In this role you will be able to work on a wide variety of bikes and trikes ranging from high end carbon road bikes tandem recumbent trikes and everything in between! You will get to create positive connections with our customers from across the country and help us in our mission to empower riders of all ages and abilities to enjoy the freedom cycling can provide. Our ideal candidate is selfdriven motivated engaged and loves to help get people outside and active. Onthejob training and tools will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Examine bikes and recumbents based on customer statements and determine appropriate repairs needed.
- Present and explain estimates to complete repairs.
- Perform routine maintenance such as fixing flat tires replacing cables adjusting braking and shifting components
- Replace or repair worn parts as needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and be able to be on your feet for prolonged periods of time.
- Able to complete repairs in a efficient and thorough manner keeping on schedule
- Maintain a clean and professional working space.
- Communicate mechanical issues in plain language to customers in person email or over the phone.
- Must be available rotating Saturdays and some overtime may be required during the summer months.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a bike mechanic or experience in another mechanical field a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of tools and equipment being used to repair bicycles
- Strong criticalthinking and troubleshooting skills
