We have an exciting opportunity for a Youth Justice Service Coordinator to join the Youth Justice Service team in Hedland.
About the Opportunity:
The primary function of the role is to oversee and run HOPEs bail facility lead and manage staff to provide support for young people on bail in the bail facility referred by Youth Justice Services (YJS) when no responsible adult can be located. To manage and oversee the YJS Community Mentoring Program (if relevant) and support HOPE staff and Partner Agencies within the region to provide a mentoring service for young people who are referred by YJS and on a YJS order.
Manages the data integrity for the services to meet contractual requirements. Build and maintain strong working relationships with Youth Justice Services and community stakeholders
Requirements of the Role:
Liaise with HOPEs Regional Manager and Youth Justice Services to authorise the entry and exit of young people for the bail program.
Develop and facilitate personalised programs for each young person who enters the bail service to participate in the day program.
Oversee and assist Residential Support Workers to provide a safe homely environment in the bail facility.
Provide opportunities for experiential learning through everyday activities that support young people to meet the goals outlined in their plan.
Train and support RSW staff to assist with the facilitation of the Bail service day program.
Arrange attend and facilitate bail service team meetings. In conjunction with the Regional Manager arrange attend and lead monthly YJS partnership meetings.
Hold a small caseload of young people (if needed)
Liaise with HOPEs Regional Manager and Youth Justice Services to authorise the entry and exit of young people for the community mentoring program.
Allocate referrals to HOPE mentor or Partner Agencies.
Attend YJS Client Management Meetings to share information and update on allocated cases.
Ensure fortnightly reports documentation and CMS data is accurate for HOPE mentors.
Input Partner Agency fortnightly reports contacts with YP and other relevant information is recorded in CMS.
When there are no young people in the bail service actively support local youth agencies with activities.
Ensure young peoples YJS exit reporting for bail/mentoring completed within timeframe.
Respond to young people in a nonjudgemental and respectful manner.
Respond to address alcohol and other drug and/or physical and/or mental health concerns as needed.
Develop staff capacity via internal training and monthly team meetings with staff team ensure minutes are recorded and stored appropriately.
Recruit staff in conjunction with the Regional Manager.
Provide induction and direct leadership support and supervision of HOPE staff
Authorise and manage leave requests and maintain leave records ensuring the service are functional.
Liaise with General Manager and HOPEs People & Culture team regarding staffing queries.
Provide or support staff to provide daily summary emails to HOPEs On Call by the end of shift.
Manage staff leave authorise staff hours and check timesheets prior to review by Regional Manager.
Maintain records of assets equipment repairs and maintenance on the bail facility (house and yard)
Essential Criteria:
A degree with 3 years relevant* experience; or lesser formal qualifications with substantial years of relevant experience (e.g. 57 years); or equivalent level of expertise and experience attained through previous appointments service and/or study (e.g. 79 years).
Relevant e.g. Psychology Social Work Youth Work Mental Health AOD or other relevant qualification
Demonstrated experience at managing all aspects of staff and team performance including recruitment staff orientation line management supervision staff disciplinary action performance development and reviews and team building.
Current C or A class drivers license
Working with Childrens Card & Police Certificate (within 3 months)
Department of Justice Clearance
Excellent administration verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft office programs and Client Management Systems for reporting and record keeping.
Demonstrated ability to communicate well with young people and an understanding of Aboriginal culture.
Strong leadership and problemsolving skills.
Experience and / or willingness to work with young people with challenging behaviours.
Experience working in culturally appropriate ways.
Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
Confidence to managing difficult and challenging situations.
An understanding of and adherence to working within personal and professional boundaries
Desirable Criteria:
Current knowledge of and commitment to Equal Opportunity in all aspects of employment and service delivery.
Demonstrated experience working therapeutically with young people.
Experience in service provision in the Youth Justice Services Alcohol and Other Drug and Mental Health sector.
Has knowledge of Trauma Informed Practices and Care
