Job Summary/Description:
Connecticuts #1 TV station is looking for a PartTime News Producer with a vision a passion and a plan. Youll spend your day crafting a newscast and collaborating with a newsroom team thats more like a family to make the onair magic happen. Each day is a chance to flex your creativity muscles show off your writing and create a show from scratch. Youll thrive under pressure and jump into action when theres breaking news yet stay calm cool and collected steering the ship in the control room. Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Produce a daily newscast
Conceptualize a newscast rundown
Collaborate with EP field crews and assignment desk to determine content of newscast
Write scripts
Research stories
Pitch story ideas
Participate in editorial meetings
Preview material before air
Work with reporters and directors on innovative production elements
Create compelling graphics
Incorporate and coordinate breaking news
Work to constantly improve and evolve look and execution of newscasts
Execute the show from the control room
Meet all show timing requirements
Qualifications/Requirements:
Education: Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism Communications or a related field or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience: One to two years of producing or production support experience for a television cable or college station.
Specific Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Experience using ENPS internet production tools and Edius is a plus.
Ability to work a flexible work schedule and work as a member of a team.
Must possess an advanced understanding of newscast presentation.
Must possess excellent writing and graphics skills with the ability to provide an interesting and substantive product.
Must be resultsoriented.
Ability to focus on the coordination of daily and longrange segments from first contact to onair products. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in a creative fastpaced environment.
Ability to make quick decisions without losing composure.
Must be able to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.
Previous experience with script writing and editorial experience preferred.
10 % Travel Required (Approximate)
