Job Description
Fayerweather Street School (FSS) is a leading independent progressive PK8 allgender school in the Fresh Pond area of Cambridge MA. We are seeking energetic and creative educators to supervise and guide PreK2nd grade students or 3rd8th grade students during our Extended Day Program for the 202526 school year. Our Extended Day teachers work collaboratively with each other to develop enriching activities and projects that align with the mission of the candidates will have experience working with a variety of learners in various age groups and be passionate about working with children while igniting curiosity sparking imagination and helping them build skills in our playbased program. Daily DutiesSupervise outdoor & indoor free playIn collaboration with teaching partner(s) develop prepare and implement daily projects/activities which could be STEM arts sports nature or movementbasedAdhere to Extended Day schedule balancing the moments for free choice activities with structured timeMaintain a safe welcoming and friendly environment for all studentsWork with the Director of Extended Day to maintain accurate attendance recordsEnsure safe student dismissal to caregiversParticipate in regular checkin meetings with Director of Extended Day & fellow team membersManage behavioral expectationsPrep spaces and snack serve snack & clean upSkills & Qualifications:Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsAdaptability flexibility and ability to modify programming when necessaryEfficient and effective emergency responsivenessCollaborative and creative problem solvingSelfmotivated and organized with an attention to detail commitment and followthroughDemonstrates strong cultural awareness and responsiveness as well as experience supporting diversity equity and inclusion initiativesValues a strong community built upon authentic relationships
