The Air Quality Environmental Scientist performs scientific and technical analyses calculations assessments and determinations essential to the implementation of the air quality program in the State of Montana. Responsibilities include: Reviewing specifications and processes at existing and proposed industrial facilities; Assessing and responding to permit applications and registration materials; Determining whether facilities are constructed and operated in compliance with air quality rules and permit requirements; Conducting field inspections; Reviewing and implementing state and federal statutes rules and policies; and Acting as a liaison for the Department to the public and industry on air quality matters.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree in a sciencebased discipline including those associated with resource protection or management human health protection or community planning.
Two years of jobrelated experience in environmental resource protection and regulation or in a related scientific profession.
Current valid Drivers License and clean driving record in accordance with State of Montana Vehicle Use Policy
Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered on a casebycase basis.
