Job Description

TITLE: BEHAVIOR SPECIALISTQUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelors Degree from an accredited educational institution.2. Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Certificationpreferred.3. Two years minimum of successful work experience withstudents diagnosed with Autism or related disorders.4. A strong knowledge of Applied Behavioral Analysis.5. Ability to record and analyze data on targeted studentbehaviors.6. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.7. Excellent interpersonal skills.8. Ability to train others to apply effective behavior managementtechniques.9. A sense of humor.10. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the SchoolDepartment may find appropriate and TO: Building Principal Director of Special Education and/ordesignated Special Education Department Head as appropriateSUPERVISES: Assigned students within the Autism Spectrum Disorders ProgramJOB GOALS: 1. To provide behavior analysis and appropriate behaviormanagement plans for students identified with Autism orother related disabilities.2. To serve as a resource to teachers paraprofessionals andparents on improving the targeted behavior of identifiedstudents using sound principles of applied behavior RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):1. Identifies and analyzes areas of behavior and socialization needs.2. Assists in the development and implementation of behavior plans goals andobjectives.3. Provides consultation to teachers paraprofessionals and parents on appropriatebehavior management techniques on a regular basis.4. Implements individualized student behavior programs and modifies programs asneeded.5. Conduct homebased parent training sessions as 1 of 24.25S:JOBDESCAUXEDBehavior Specialist SC Appd 1/24/07BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST Page 2 of 26. Meets with designated teachers according to schedule and ensures accurate dataon targeted behaviors.7. Uses appropriate technology to enhance record keeping and quick retrieval ofstudent information.8. Assists staff in developing positive intervention strategies to address specificbehavior areas.9. Meets with Behavioral Consultant Special Education Department Head andSpecial Needs Teacher on a weekly basis to review student progress.10. Participates in TEAM Meetings and in the development of students individualizededucational program (IEP).11. Participates in inservices and designated training to keep abreast of current trendsand best practices in applied behavioral analysis and associated areas.12. Maintains confidentiality of student records and information.13.
