POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Secondary Math Coordinator will serve as an instructional leader and systems thinker dedicated to advancing rigorous equitable and engaging math instruction across grades 612. This role includes coaching and collaborating with educators leading curriculum and intervention design and facilitating vertical alignment between elementary middle and high school teams.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Collaborate with Educational Services instructional coaches and building principals to support alignment and implementation of TCSDs MTSS and math instructional framework.
Coordinate curriculum instruction and assessment implementation and monitoring priorities and facilitate alignment of grades 56 and 89 transitions.
Support grades 612 math educators in implementing evidencebased instructional practices aligned with district goals and student needs. Coach and mentor teachers through classroom modeling observationfeedback cycles and datainformed planning.
Provide consultation coaching and collaborative support to interventionists special education teachers general education teachers and principals on TCSDs MTSS systems.
Lead crossgrade working groups to improve coherence in conceptual development and mathematical fluency.
Provide coordination and cofacilitation of professional development for district priorities evidencebased instructional strategies and teacheridentified goals.
Serve as a liaison between elementary middle and high school teams to ensure alignment of mathematical practices curricular progressions and shared language.
Collaborate with district and buildinglevel MTSS and IDEA teams to design refine and support math intervention systems across Tiers 1 2 and 3.
Partner with building administrators to identify and respond to instructional trends teacher strengths and areas for growth.
Partner with classroom teachers interventionists and enrichment leads to ensure programming is responsive to a full continuum of student needs including those of accelerated and PEAKidentified learners.
Support the development of enrichment structures extension tasks and advanced learning pathways that foster deep conceptual understanding intellectual risktaking and ongoing challenge for highachieving students.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:
Knowledge of principles and practices of curriculum instruction and assessment and the ability to apply them to the needs of the district and schools.
Knowledge of MTSS frameworks and the corresponding research literature and best practices.
Knowledge of evidencebased instructional practices assessment and resources and be specifically knowledgeable about effective practices for atrisk students (MLs special education low socioeconomic status etc.)
Has expertise in using databased decision making to determine intervention effectiveness for accelerating student growth and achievement.
Knowledge of how to match the most effective instructional approach and intervention with the specific needs of the learner.
Has expertise in teaching adult learners to be reflective practitioners.
Has expertise in teaching adult learners to effectively build instructional capacity.
Has expertise in teaching adult learners to effectively build their collaborative capacity.
EDUCATION LICENSE CERTIFICATION AND TRAINING:
At least five years of successful teaching experience in 612 mathematics.
Wyoming Teaching Certificate in 612 mathematics.
English as a Second Language (ELD) Endorsement.
Specialized training in evidence based instructional practices and intervention resources (e.g. Building Thinking Classrooms NCTM Effective Teaching Practices Landscapes for Learning).
Masters degree in mathematics or curriculum and instruction preferred.
National Board Certification preferred.
Experience with Evidence Based Grading preferred.
PLC Coaching Academy training preferred.
Leadership TCSD program completion preferred.

Hearing ability to monitor activity and presence of students and respond to communication with students and adults is required. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is normally low to moderate but may become loud when large groups are together in a room. The employee may be required to move from room to room to provide instruction and may have to maneuver in crowded hallways. The employee may be exposed to unpredictable weather conditions. This position is typically performed in a hazard free clean and healthy environment.
