The salary scale for Professional Support 2 is based on steps that range from $64783.04 $86126.92. New Professional Support employees may receive up to a maximum of seven steps for relevant occupational experience which is $75439.19 annually.

What you will be doing

Reporting to the Manager of Libraries and Learning Commons and under the functional guidance of the Learning Commons Coordinator:

  • You will be responsible for the development delivery and evaluation of English as an Additional Language (EAL) programming services and supports at all stages of the student life cycle for both inperson and online delivery.
  • You will facilitate individual and group support sessions for EAL learners as well as develop educational resources in a variety of formats.
  • You will work collaboratively with the Learning Commons Coordinator Student Affairs Campus teams Academic Schools and other internal and external stakeholders to support academic excellence and the success of international new Canadian and domestic EAL students.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a university undergraduate degree. Preferred area of study may include language education. In addition you possess Certification to teach English as an Additional Language (EAL) that includes a supervised practicum recognized by TESL Canada
  • You have a minimum of three years of recent and related occupational experience teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL).
  • You have experience teaching in higher education or working with adult EAL learners with a focus on language education and writing development
  • You have experience in developing coordinating and facilitating language support workshops for adults particularly English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners
  • You have experience in collecting and analyzing data for continuous improvement purposes
  • Knowledge of trends in the field of English as an Additional Language (EAL) is required
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite Teams Email
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience
  • You have experience in training/facilitation preparation delivery and evaluation
  • You have experience supporting/providing service to students

This adult education program is a significant investment on the part of NSCC in the learning and development of new employees.
