Our Production Coordinator has the power to change the lives of millions of children around the world.

Reporting to the Head of Production (Publishing) the Publishing Coordinator is a member of Library For Alls Publishing Team who will create positive impact for children around the world by coordinating the production of culturally diverse and age appropriate childrens books for our library.

As a Publishing Coordinator you will:

  • Bring your strong editing and production skills to the publication of culturally diverse illustrated childrens books and educational resourcesfor children in remote lowincome and otherwise compromised reading environments in Australia and globally
  • Use your exceptional written and verbal communication skills to commission creatives from a diverse and multilingual network of authors illustrators designers translators editors and proofreaders to deliver manuscripts images illustrations and design layouts
  • Be ready to respond working closely with cultural advisors funding partners and government advisors to ensure books and educational resources reach children as quickly as possible without compromising our high quality benchmarks

In this fulltime fixed term role (12 months with potential for extension) youll work as a part of our Publishing team in Brisbane or remotely to help us create lasting change for children everywhere. The Production Coordinator plays an important role in delivering on our vision of a better world for children. Whether its working with an illustrator to produce culturally relevant illustrations for a new book or maintaining our publishing records through our bespoke cataloguing and epub distribution tools youll be contributing to our commitment to children in Australia the Pacific and around the world.

You will make a difference by:

  • Supporting the Publishing Team in managing the endtoend production of content assets including compliance with budgets and schedules set by internal and external suppliers and contractors
  • Coordinating the acquisition of content assets across the publishing pipeline including manuscripts images illustrations digital books print books and educational resources
  • Creating clear and comprehensive briefs for contributors and monitoring their compliance correspondence and delivery of assets
  • Providing timely and accurate editing proofreading and layout checking on a range of fastmoving and varied publication programs
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement and implementation of processes and workflows based on monitoring and evaluation of publishing outcomes

Your deep expertise in the production arm of the publishing process including editing design and communication with a wide range of creative contributors is invaluable.

This role requires:

  • Significant book industry understanding across a variety of areas such as graphic design printing editorial publication standards or project management
  • Significant experience and success in an editing and/ or publishing role ideally with a collection featuring a strong focus on cultural diversity
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the impact potential and environmental limitations of book production and distribution (ideally) in lowincome remote or otherwise compromised environments
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or industry accreditations in the fields of Creative Industries Editing or Publishing will be highly regarded
