Description

The Assistant Director of Residential Services is responsible for training leading managing and direct oversight of the residential managers and indirectly the Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). In addition to working with the Senior Director of Residential Services on the oversight and growth of the ICF efforts throughout the organization this position provides growth and leadership to team members within Residential Services. As a leader this position will build a culture of inclusion and ensure health and safety and the needs of the individuals that we serve are met by training monitoring and accountability of DSPs and frontline supervisors. This is a fulltime salaried position.


Requirements

  • Has knowledge of and ensures compliance with ICF/MR regulations and other Federal and State laws and regulations to ensure that residential care is within the ICF/MR standards.
  • Ensures residential managers are experts related to knowledge of regulations IPPs behavioral plans programs and records to ensure individuals needs are being met consistent with goals and objectives outlined in the individual plan of care.
  • Strategically works side by side with the clinical program risk management and IDT teams to ensure that health and safety needs for the individuals that we serve are being met in conjunction with the ICF/MR regulations.
  • Has knowledge of the union contract and acts as the liaison for the ICF residential team with the union families and agencies.
  • Builds excellent relationships within teams and leads by example through collaboration hands on effective communication and accountability.
  • Leads mentors oversees and coaches the residential team to meet annual goals and objectives and undertakes new initiatives as appropriate.
  • Plans develops implements and evaluates staff development and ensures training of new staff after the orientation class on individuals needs in their assigned locations in collaboration with the staff development specialist in Human Resources.
  • Develops policies and procedures affecting DSPs responsibilities.
  • Coordinates and revises scheduling with coordinators to meet staff individual ratio for every shift by ensuring the required number of DSP needs is available by planning and collaborating with the Residential Services Coordinator in advance.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of staff utilization.
  • Maintains working communications and collaborative efforts with Verland administrators department heads and Fiscal Department.
  • Participates in Verland Board of Directors meetings as requested.
  • Collaborates with management staff on projects that build and strengthen the Verland brand.
  • Commits to high ethical standards and complies with the Code of Conduct State and Federal regulations accreditation standards and Verland policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of resident donor and employee records and information.
  • Recognizes the duty to report compliance concerns significant legal risk questions fraud abuse and suspected or actual misconduct to a supervisor/manager or to the Compliance Officer.
Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of labor management to ensure compliance with the standards and regulations governing the facility as it relates to staffing.
  • Knowledge of the principles and methods of program planning and implementation organization direction interpretation evaluation and methods of monitoring and accountability.
  • Must possess working knowledge of community participation practices an understanding of the challenges facing people with disabilities and a commitment to help provide individuals with the opportunity to be part of the integrated community.
  • Must have knowledge of 2380 regulations to understand the benefit of the Adult Training Facility and why individuals must attend.
  • Must have the ability to plan coordinate train and supervise staff efforts.
  • Effective and clear verbal and written skills necessary to communicate with individuals and staff.
  • Ability to establish an effective working relationship with all those with whom the department comes in contact i.e. other internal departments parents/families of the individuals union officials and various community contacts.
  • Extensive knowledge of the workings of the nonprofit sector.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and hours to meet the needs of the individuals and the agency.
  • Ability to perform direct care work when needed.
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build a healthy work culture.
  • Must be able to carry a company phone and respond when needed.

Minimum Training and Experience:

  • A masters degree or above from accredited college or university and one (1) year of work experience working directly with individuals with an intellectual disability or autism.
  • A bachelors degree from accredited college or university and two (2) years of work experience working directly with individuals with an intellectual disability or autism.
  • At least three to five (35) years of management or leadership experience preferably in ICF/IID field.
  • Demonstrated experience as a positive and inclusive team leader/team builder.
  • Maturity and professionalism in demeanor communication and judgment.
  • Experience in digital administrative systems and office software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to assist in lifting over fifty (50) pounds which may require bending squatting and turning to achieve proper positioning/placement of individuals.
  • Must have the knowledge and the physical capability to participate in applying physical restraints.
  • Must be capable of maneuvering mobility devices.
  • Required for this position are the abilities to see hear speak write stand sit walk and drive.
