Job Description

Salary/Position Classification

  • $20.00 hourly NonExempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 510 hours per week
  • 100% Remote Work Availability: No
  • Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): No

Purpose of Position

This is a parttime nonbenefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Provide academic advisement recruitment and retention services to undergraduate aerospace students at the University of North Dakota within the JDO School of Aerospace Sciences.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Function/Mission: Working together we will be leaders in creating preserving and delivering the highest quality education research and services in aerospace and related sciences for our university our state and the worldwide aerospace community.
  • The Aerospace Success Center function is to provide academic advisement career planning and placement services to current students; to recruit new students and assist explaining in the admission and registration process to evaluate transfer credits; to provide academic advising support to the faculty; to provide personal/social counseling; to provide services to aerospace students as needed or required.
  • Duties and Responsibilities:
    • General Aerospace Advising:
      • Responsible for an academic advising load of 75100 undergraduate JDOSAS students.
      • Provide advising services for walkin advising and scheduled appointments.
      • Advise incoming aerospace students during the summer orientation program in coordination with UNDs Student Academic Success & Career Engagement.
    • Assist with new student recruitment and outreach within JDOSAS:
      • Give UND Aerospace briefings on Mondays and Fridays to prospective students and their families.
      • Attend outreach events to help recruit new students.
      • Participate in regional/national recruiting events.
      • Advise prospective students and families on UNDs JDOSAS programs via in person email and/or phone calls.
      • Represent the University of North Dakota Aerospace as needed.
    • Use of appropriate technology tools for advising and recruitment:
      • Microsoft office Campus Connection AIMS Hawk Central.
      • Complete mandatory training for specialized software.
      • Maintain accurate and timely student advising records.
    • Participation in student centered events and professional development:
      • Professional development training events and workshops.
      • Attendance and participation in graduation ceremonies and open houses.

Required Competencies

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse groups (students faculty and community members).
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Attendance and punctuality consistently maintained; follows correct procedures for notification.
  • Use work time appropriately for work activities; attends all mandatory meetings/training sessions.
  • Remain calm discreet and professional in all circumstances.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree.
  • Experience with Campus Connection Hawk Central Microsoft Office.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree with an aviation major.
  • Experience with AIMS.
