Job Description

Purpose:

As an Electrical Designer Electrical at KE you will play a key role within our PreConstruction team. This person is the bridge between Estimation and Operations. The Electrical Designer will be responsible for bringing an estimate from conceptual design to a finished project that is construction ready. The Electrical Designer will work with our Estimators PreConstruction Managers Drafters and Project Managers throughout the design phase until it is ready to hand off to our Operations team. KE performs Design Build projects nationwide in a variety of industries including but not limited to Biodiesel & Ethanol production facilities Grain storage Fertilizer Terminals Feed & Flour Mills Dairy Processing plants and Cement/Aggregate plants etc.


Responsibilities:

  • This position is an onsite position located in Oglesby IL. It is not a remote position.
  • Verify vendor quotes and provide submittal packages
  • Participate in customer/client design review meetings and presentations
  • Assist in leading/managing engineering needs to ensure final product matches the KEWay design
  • Complete conceptual engineering and or design for the following
    • Sizing conduit/cable to serve electrical equipment such as MCCs Switchboards Panelboards and Transformers
    • Comprehend MCC BOMs and quotes to ensure that sizing layouts and controller types are accurate
    • Comprehend Switchgear BOMs and quotes to ensure that sizing layouts and over current protection types are correct
    • Build conduit cable schedules to serve
      • Motors
      • Controls and instrumentation devices
      • Branch Circuiting
    • Knowledge of motor control devices such as VFDs Soft Starts Networked MCCs and traditional across the line starters
    • Medium Voltage Distribution systems such as
      • Vacuum Fault Interrupters
      • Metal Clad MV Switchgear
      • MV transformers
      • Various MV Cable Types and terminations
    • Experience with Special systems such as
      • Network cabling
      • Instrumentation
      • Fire Alarm
      • Door access/Security systems
      • Grounding Systems
  • Act as a bridge from estimating to operations or Concept to reality
  • Additional duties as needed

Qualifications:

  • Experience with BlueBeam Revit AutoCAD Smartsheets and Procore
  • A knowledge of electrical and or automation construction practices or industrial electrical work.
  • Knowledge of the NEC
  • Manage project files drawings documents & records in our project system
  • Journeyman Electricians License a degree in Project Management Construction Management Electrical Engineering or related or equivalent combination of field experience/education
  • Must be selfmotivated and flexible to accommodate changes in KE business strategies
  • Ability to problem solve and take accountability for decisions on projects.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driving license
  • Ability to pass a preemployment drug screen and criminal background check
  • Open to occasional travel

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit stand kneel stoop walk and sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs.
