This position is eligible for a flexible/hybrid telework schedule under the State of NC Telework Program.
The NC Department of Adult Correction (DAC) is hiring an Agency HR Consultant III (Grievance & Settlements Consultant). This position is located in the central DAC Human Resources Office.
The Grievance & Settlements Consultant works with sensitive and confidential information to identify and administer HR actions needed to carry out legal agreements and orders including but not limited to mediation agreements and Final Agency Decisions arising from the formal employee grievance process settlement agreements Industrial Commission orders Office of Administrative Hearing orders Court of Appeals decisions and Supreme Court opinions.
The Grievance & Settlements Consultant translates information contained in mediation agreements Final Agency Decisions and a variety of legal documents into a plan to effectuate settlement agreements and legal orders. To accomplish this the Consultant reviews and researches legal documents and historical data to organize information into a written plan outlining HR actions needed to carry out the conditions set forth in the legal agreement or order. Once the action plan is compiled the position coordinates with other sections throughout DAC HR the Office of State Human Resources and the State Controllers Office (BEST Shared Services) to ensure efficient processing of all HR actions which may include actions involving employment status pay leave benefits and other organizational factors.

Bachelor s degree typically in Human Resources or related field from an appropriately accredited institution and 4 years of experience required; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 6 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
