JOB SUMMARY:
Were looking for a highly organized and energetic Recreation Specialist to support the Recreation Supervisor with yearround programs and projects. This is a great opportunity to get handson experience in event planning youth sports school partnerships sponsorship development and community engagement.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
The Recreation Assistant is expected to work effectively under minimal supervision. Work within a framework of standard District policies and procedures.
EXAMPLE OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:
The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices:
- Assist with planning and coordinating seasonal events youth programs and sports leagues
- Support schoolsite programs and weekend events
- Help manage timelines logistics and communications for programs and events
- Organize and track data using tools like Excel Word and Google Drive
- Assist with sponsorship proposals outreach meetings and followups
- Coordinate with instructors and contractors (invoice collection attendance surveys)
- Attend events and programs to provide support and ensure smooth operations
- Prepare reports promotional materials and program documentation as needed
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR:
- Experience or strong interest in recreation sports or event coordination
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel Word) and/or Google Workspace
- Organized detailoriented and reliable
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible schedule and willingness to attend events on evenings or weekends when needed
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- State law requires that the applicant selected for the position must complete the fingerprint process to check for or verify conviction record; TB test clearance is also required.
- Must have reliable transportation to commute to park locations within the District.
- Preferred possession of a valid class C California Drivers license.
SCHEDULE AND PAY RATE:
- 030 hours per week
- Generally anywhere: Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday from 7:30 am 7 pm (Modified hours for events and other meetings when necessary)
- This is a seasonal position hours will vary weekly based on seasonal programs and event needs.
