Job Description

Curriculum Lead K12 Science

Location: TBD

Job Goal:
The Curriculum Lead is responsible for implementing refining and evaluating district curriculum and instructional initiatives. This role involves managing instructional resources supporting HighQuality Instructional Materials (HQIM) implementation and monitoring progress. Additionally the Curriculum Lead advances MultiTiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and aligns efforts with the districts vision for highquality instruction.

Essential Functions:

Curriculum & Assessment System Design Monitoring and Management:

  • Implement and monitor a sustainable systemwide approach to highquality instruction HighQuality Instructional Materials (HQIM) implementation and MultiTiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
  • Lead the development and continuous refinement of district curriculum ensuring alignment with Guaranteed & Viable Curricula (GVCs) and state standards.
  • Manage digital applications that support tiered programming and content resources.
  • Establish a vetting and piloting framework for HQIM ensuring datadriven decisionmaking in resource selection.
  • Oversee the creation and analysis of district benchmark assessments to evaluate systemwide instructional effectiveness.
  • Support the districtwide instructional coaching framework including training mentorship and ongoing professional development for new and existing instructional coaches.
  • Implement a structured system for monitoring HQIM implementation through principal collaboration and datadriven reflection.
  • Establish a data team meeting structure to produce quarterly reports on instructional implementation trends guiding systemwide professional development decisions.
  • Leverage districtlevel data analytics to inform instructional programming intervention strategies and professional development priorities.
  • Develop and oversee districtwide Tier II and III intervention protocols within the MTSS framework to ensure targeted and scalable student support.
  • Implement a districtwide strategy for inclusive instruction ensuring alignment with MTSS and general education initiatives.
  • Provide districtlevel leadership in supporting schools with differentiated instructional strategies and intervention models.
  • Support a comprehensive program evaluation framework to assess the effectiveness of curriculum instruction and professional development initiatives ensuring continuous refinement based on datadriven insights.

Systemwide Leadership Coordination and Alignment:

  • Establish and support collaborative structures at both the school and district levels to analyze assessment data and ensure instructional coherence.
  • Coordinate with district leadership and school administrative teams to implement strategic initiatives that improve student outcomes and align with districtwide priorities.

Professional Development Systems and Capacity Building:

  • Support jobembedded professional development for instructional coaches and administrators on HighQuality Instructional Material implementation instructional strategies and data protocols.
  • Collaborate with instructional coaches to provide targeted support for HighQuality Instructional Material onboarding and curriculum implementation.
  • Provide curriculumbased professional learning opportunities to teachers

Resource Management and CrossDepartmental Collaboration:

  • Develop and manage an instructional materials procurement and distribution system that ensures equitable access to highquality resources programming and materials.
  • Collaborate with various departments (i.e. Student Supports WorkBased Learning Multilingual Education Services Special Education) to enhance instructional coherence.
  • Represent the district in statelevel curriculum development initiatives ensuring local instructional strategies align with emerging best practices and policy changes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years effective teaching experience required as evident in references portfolios and evaluations.
  • Minimum of 5 years effective teaching experience preferred as evident in references portfolios and evaluations.
  • Maintains a current Kansas teaching license in the area of instructional responsibility.
  • Masters degree in education or related field required.
  • Experience as a building instructional coach (preferred).
  • Demonstrated effective coaching practices (preferred).
  • Knowledge of content in the area of instructional responsibility and applicable Standards (National State District).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with various instructional technology resources.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and sound professional development practices.
  • Maintains a flexible daily and yearly schedule.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and manage a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read analyze and interpret general professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports general curriculum and learning theories correspondence and protocols. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators staff parents students and the general public.

COMMUNICATION: Maintains communication with teachers and other school personnel to enhance cooperative action to meet students educational needs. Maintains confidentiality regarding educational records.

ORGANIZATION: Utilizes existing technology effectively in the performance of duties. Performs other related work as required.

The employee must occasionally push items of 50 pounds such as pushing on a bike or wheelchair or moving/rearranging furniture. While performing the job duties the employee occasionally may visit a childs home. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision and depth perception.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement lessons based on district and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students peers parents and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 186day certified contract with 20 additional days

SALARY: Certified Salary Schedule: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Directors of Diploma College and Careers Instructional Programs

EVALUATION: Performance is evaluated in accordance with the Board of Education policy
