Job Description
This position is contingent upon budget approval and available funding.
SALARY: Commensurate with certification and experience based on the Wicomico County Administrative and Supervisory Salary Scale. Includes employee benefits package.
HOURS: 12 months 37.5 hours/week 260 days
CONTRACT UNIT: Unit II Administrators and Supervisors
FLSA: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Secondary Education
QUALIFICATIONS
Hold or be eligible for a Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Administrator I Certificate Administrator II Certificate preferred.
Minimum of five years of successful teaching and coaching experience.
Experience in administrative or supervisory roles.
Demonstrated ability to organize delegate and supervise programs and staff.
Experience with budgeting management and compliance preferred.
Knowledge of event management and safety protocols.
Experience supporting novice athletic directors athletic trainers and coaches.
Experience in designing implementing and evaluating interscholastic sports intramurals and unified sports
Understanding turf management.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders including staff students families and community organizations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the implementation of interscholastic participation opportunities for our high school students in coordination with the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA).
Provide leadership and oversight for unified sports eSports and middle school intramurals.
Expand our engaging athletic opportunities into the intermediate grades to help provide greater opportunities for our younger students.
Oversee event management and provide for the safe operation of public events.
Develop and implement professional development aligned for coaches and athletic directors aligned with MPSSAA expectations.
Coordinate delivery of care and prevention training.
Act as liaison between the Bayside Athletic Conference MPSSAA and the WCPS Superintendent.
Arrange MPSSAA rules interpretation and trainings for officials.
Promote the values of educationalbased athletics.
Certify that all coaches meet the minimum standards to coach student athletes.
Develop and provide interpretation for the Wicomico County Athletic Handbook.
Manage program budgets (grant and general funds) supplies and operations in alignment with district priorities.
Provide oversight of athletic facilities and turf management program.
Serve as a liaison to the Maryland Special Olympics.
Oversee the coordination of summer engagements and coach stipends.
Oversee athletic trainers and the coordinator of athletic training for WCPS athletes.
Serve on MPSSAA and Bayside Conference committees as needed.
Coordinate with facilities regarding rentals of athletic spaces.
Perform other duties as assigned.
