190day contract
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in SpeechLanguage Pathology or Communication Disorders
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American SpeechLanguageHearing Association.
- New Mexico License in SpeechLanguage Pathology from the New Mexico Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Board
- New Mexico License issued by the PED Ancillary and Support Services
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of NM State and Federal laws governing Special Education and adherence to those laws.
- Maintain professional confidentiality and work collaboratively with peers.
- Work with District personneland the general publicin a professional manner.
Essential Responsibilities
- Organizesand conducts identification program i.e. screening and student assessments.
- Coordinatesstudents therapy/treatment schedules in coordination with teaching staffand other related service providers.
- Refersto other related service providers and teachers if necessary.
- Evaluatesand interprets speech and language testing and makes recommendations toaid in the educational planning for students with service needs.
- Providesdirect and/or consultative services in an individual small or large group setting.
- Maintainsprofessional competence through participation in inservice activities provided by the District and/or other professional growth activities.
- Mayserve as case manager for student who receive speechlanguage services aswell as may participate in Student Assistant Teams (SAT) committee meetings.
- MayperformResponse to Intervention (RtI) tasks as well as provide recommendations for RtI tasks.
- Evaluatesspeech and language delays and disorders including: selection administration andinterpretation of appropriate evaluation materials and results.
- Analyzesand interprets findings for use in diagnosis and recommendations as wellas reports findings both verbally and in writing to appropriatepersonnel student and parents.
- FollowsFederal State and District guidelines and criteria for eligibility and service delivery.
- Plansand implements the clinical program which includes but is not limited to the management ofa caseload developing therapy schedules for studentsdevelops measurablegoals modifies educational materials develops arapport with the teachers to develop and facilitateIndividualizedEducation Plans (IEPs) and evaluating student progress.
- Writesevaluation reports progress reports maintains records including Medicaidfiling for eligible students.
- Participatesin intraschool planning and communications through attending monthly meetings of the District speechlanguage pathologists.
- Performsother duties as may be assigned by Supervisor
Work Hours:
Work hours are establishedin employment contract. Additional work hours may be
required as scheduled by School Principal.
