ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR CLINICIAN EDUCATOR

DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY & COMMUNITY MEDICINE

MEDICAL COLLEGE OF WISCONSIN (MCW) PREVEA GREEN BAY CAMPUS


Overview:

This faculty position in the Clinician Educator pathway (tenureeligible) within the Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) offers a significant leadership opportunity. The Associate Program Director will partner with the Program Director in the overall leadership of the MCWPrevea Green Bay Family Medicine residency with a primary focus on spearheading the development & implementation of a new rural training track. This role provides a unique chance to significantly influence & enhance a new Family Medicine residency in an unopposed GME environment with a strong relationship to an excellent Medical College of Wisconsin Regional Medical School Campus. The Associate Program Director role at the MCWPrevea Green Bay Family Medicine Residency allows for significant opportunity to contribute to curriculum innovation & educational excellence for both residents & medicalstudents. This position will work in close collaboration with the Program Director on many aspects of residency program management with a distinct leadership role in rural program expansion.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Rural Program Development & Leadership (APD Lead):
    • Spearhead the comprehensive planning development implementation and ongoing management of a new rural training track/site for the residency program
    • Identify establish and maintain clinical learning environments resources and partnerships essential for the rural tracks success
    • Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with rural healthcare providers facilities and community stakeholders
    • Play a key role in the recruitment selection and onboarding of residents for the rural track in conjunction with the Program Director
    • Lead curriculum development specific to the rural track ensuring its integration with the core program and full compliance with ACGME requirements
2. Shared Program Administration & Accreditation:
    • Collaborate with the Program Director on overall program strategic planning policy development and budget management
    • Assist the Program Director in maintaining full ACGME accreditation ensuring ongoing compliance with all institutional and RRCFM requirements and preparing necessary documentation and reports
    • Support and contribute to quality improvement initiatives across all aspects of the residency program

3.Shared Curriculum & Educational Leadership:

    • Collaborate with the Program Director and faculty on the overall design implementation evaluation and continuous improvement of the residency curriculum
    • Actively participate in mentoring and teaching MCW medical students and family medicine residents in diverse settings (clinical classroom hospital)
    • Provide clinical preceptorship deliver didactic teaching lead clinical conferences and contribute to faculty development activities
    • Share responsibility for inpatient family medicine teaching service coverage

4. Shared Resident Management & Development:

    • Assist the Program Director with resident recruitment selection evaluation promotion and onboarding processes for the entire program
    • Collaborate with the Program Director to oversee the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) remediation strategies and academic disciplinary actions when necessary
    • Work with the Program Director to monitor and support resident wellbeing address stressors and ensure fair and documented procedures for resident complaints or grievances

5.Shared Faculty & Program Personnel Support:

    • Assist the Program Director in the development support mentorship and evaluation of teaching faculty and program staff
    • Contribute to faculty development initiatives to enhance teaching effectiveness and scholarly activity
6.Program Representation &Engagement:
    • In coordination with the Program Director represent and promote the residency program to internal and external stakeholders including community and public presentations
    • Participate in departmental institutional (MCW Prevea) and campus leadership activities and committees as delegated or appropriate to advance the programs mission
7.Clinical Practice & Scholarship (Individual Responsibility):
    • Maintain an active parttime clinical family medicine practice as mutually agreed upon. Faculty in our residency program typically have 2 half days of their own clinic and 4 half days of precepting (60% clinical 40% admin)
    • Engage in scholarly activities (e.g. research publications presentations) and promote a scholarly environment within the program
    • Serve as an exemplary professional role model demonstrating compassion integrity and respect for others

Position Requirements:

General Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated proficiency in patient care teaching communication skills and time management
  • Experience & demonstrated success in leadership
Specific Requirements:
  • Board certification/recertification in Family Medicine
  • Minimum 2 years experience after residency or related administrative experience (ie: chief resident experience residency or medical school faculty etc.)
  • Experience & enthusiasm for Inpatient family medicine teaching service coverage
  • Family Medicine residency program completion
  • MD or DO from an accredited institution
  • Commitment to advancing healthcare equity and fostering a culturally inclusive environment
  • Strong organizational & interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively within the residency team
  • Prior experience in clinical teaching curriculum development &/or residency education preferred
