We believe that providing a quality education that prepares our students for an unpredictable world is a shared responsibility fostered by partnerships among the schools families educational nonprofits businesses and the believe the District and our community partners should collaborate to provide the necessary funding to equip our students with the essential critical thinking analytic communication and problemsolving skills they need to be productive contributing members of our local and global communities and deliver on the promise of our students :// Strategic PlanSpecial Education Liaison Job DescriptionOversight of student programs:Serve as Case Manager and primary contact for parents and teachers associated with assigned students special education program including special education service providersOversee assigned caseload of students IEPs Communicate student disabilityrelated needs and IEP requirements to teachers counselors nurse and building staff Act as point person for all parent communication relating to special educationoEstablish initial telephone contact within first two weeks of schooloRespond to parent inquiries and concerns within twenty four hoursoProvide progress reporting on IEP goals and objectives each quarter/trimesteroTrouble shoot issues relating to student academic performanceFormally and informally monitor and report on student progress in identified goal areas including checkins weekly with all service providers and 23 times per quarter with general education teachersImplementation of IEP:Coordinate support services with specialists (speech/language occupational therapy physical therapy etc.)Supervise services provided other special education professionals (i.e. TAs special teachers)oTrain teaching assistants on IEPs and understanding disabilities of assigned studentsoCreate and oversee system for progress monitoring of goals and objectivesDetermine instructional methods and materials to be used in direct service instructional time (Resource Room and CoTeaching)Plan lessons and provide direct instruction/support as determined by scheduled responsibilitiesRegulatory compliance:Conduct student assessments (informal formal initial and 3 year evaluations) and generate written reports Responsible for the development of student IEP and coordination of related paperwork and Team recommendationsSupport grade and building level transitions Implement strategies for transition planning and disability awareness as appropriate to the students age in accordance with District a system of caseload record keeping (student files phone log IEPs)Participate in Team meetings special education department meetings building and district meetings as requiredMaintain familiarity of regulations and policies related to special education
