Controls Engineer

Noblis MSDs mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) and their missions to enable research development test and evaluation acquisition engineering systems integration inservice and fleet engineering with cybersecurity comprehensive logistics and lifecycle savings. Currently we are looking to hire a Jr Controls Engineer.

This position is for an entry level Machinery Controls System Engineer. The main function of this position will be to provide Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) including the development update and validation of technical manuals maintenance procedures and instructional documentation for operational use by U.S. Navy personnel. This personnel will also provide lifecycle support of fielded Machinery Control Systems (MCS) on the USS ARLEIGH BURKE class of destroyer. This includes shipboard support as well as Land Based Engineering Site (LBES) support .

• Lifecycle support of the supervisory machinery control system which includes but is not limited to:

• Support development and updates of documentation used by U.S. Navy personnel such as technical manuals Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs) and Planned Maintenance System (PMS) procedures.

• Contribute to written deliverables such as the ship software delivery letter by applying strong communication writing and technical skills.

• Troubleshooting complex problems of all variants of fielded systems (microprocessor based control systems) both at LBES and shipboard.

• Review of technical documentation related to all variants of fielded systems and future fielded systems.

• Provide test support for all variants of fielded systems at LBES.

• Provide shipboard SW & HW installation support of all variants of fielded systems at LBES.

• Provide technical input to the design of future MCS systems.

• Develop test procedures to exercise requirements of fielded systems and future fielded systems.

• Provide design support for integration of equipment in an industrial/shipboard environment.

There is an opportunity for Hybrid Work but candidates must be local to the Philadelphia Navy Yard to come in for meetingsand as needed.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or Computer Engineering is ; no equivalencies or experience substitutions will be considered and03 years of experience in electrical or computer engineering as it pertains to control systems in an industrial environment

• Technical writing experience.
• Successful applicants will be US Citizenswho must either have an active government security(DoD Secret) clearance or the ability to receive approval upon position acceptance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical data into clearly written documentation.
• Knowledge of the fundamental concepts practices and procedures associated with electrical or computer engineering in relation to control systems.
• Proficiency in reading electrical diagrams.
• Proficiency in the use of test tools associated with electrical/computer engineering.
• Proficiency in the use of diagnostic tools associated with electrical/computer system troubleshooting.
• Basic knowledge of network troubleshooting tools.
• Basic Technical writing ability.

• Experience with Versa Module Eurocard (VME) systems
• Experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems
• Must have a valid US passport or the ability to obtain one upon position acceptance.
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications.
• Ability to self motivate and complete tasks efficiently
• Ability to communicate effectively within an integrated team environment

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors including but not limited to the combination of education certifications knowledge skills competencies and experience internal and external equity location clearance level as well as contractspecific affordability organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this positionis based on full time status. For part time or oncall staff compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important its just one component of Noblis total compensation package.
