Job Description

CoPreschool Teacher
Essential Dutes:
  • 40 hours weekly
  • Maintain prekindergarten licensure or other credential requirements
  • Follow child care regulations as presented in Department of Human Services Statute 9503 (Rule 3)
  • Documents and reports suspected cases of child abuse to Child Protection
  • Complete required inservice training each year. Track and maintain personal training hours and complete required forms
  • Complete firstaid/CPR training every two (2) years
  • Complete and submit timecard according to pay schedule
  • Directly supervises the preschool program
  • Maintain a high standard of performance ethics integrity and professionalism by treating children parents coworkers the university at large and the community at large with dignity and respect and presenting self in a professional manner (attire attitude)
  • Properly train and supervise student employees in the preschool room
  • Supervise practicum/student teachers as assigned
  • Prepare and communicate classroom plans with substitutes
  • See that the daily needs of each child are met
  • Meet with CoTeacher to discuss management of classroom on a weekly basis
  • Plan and implement curriculum along with team teacher
  • Maintains learning areas as specified in DHS Rule 3:
    • Large muscle
    • Art and music (easel markers playdough etc.)
    • Dramatic play (2 areas)
    • Reading area
    • Science
    • Manipulatives (puzzles games)
    • Block area
    • Water and/or sand area
  • Plan post and implement weekly lesson plans
  • Maintain bulletin boards in the preschool classroom
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom and shared spaces and work cooperatively with other classroom staff to clean and organize shared materials
  • Work with consultants for the development or improvement of the center
  • Maintain daily attendance records
  • Communicate with parents informally through verbal communication telephone email Lillio
  • Inform parents when children are ill or injured
  • Complete accident reports when necessary and get parent signature
  • Place important paperwork for office in office folder
  • Maintain individual childs assessment and portfolio documentation
  • Participate in two (2) parent conferences annually
  • Plan and participate in Family events (Family Nights Family Picnic)
  • Work in collaboration with other center staff
  • Participate in staff curriculum planning when appropriate
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Conduct daily safety check of his/her room large motor space and playground and see that checklists are completed on a daily basis
  • Conduct daily maintenance of kitchen area (refrigerator dishes trash laundry etc.) THIS IS A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY AMONG ALL STAFF
  • Inform director of any safety concerns in the center
  • Inform director of supply needs
Experience & Education:
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Minimum of a bachelors degree
  • Prekindergarten teaching license preferred
  • Synodical college preparation or colloquy candidacy is preferred
