Summary of Job Duties:
The UAMS Northwest Regional Campus is seeking a motivated and engaged Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) student to complete an unpaid internship focused on practical handson experience across a variety of healthcare administration domains. This internship provides a unique opportunity for students to gain exposure to multiple facets of healthcare leadership and operations while contributing to impactful initiatives within the region.
The intern will rotate through key functional areas and work closely with senior and executive leaders to support strategic initiatives drive process improvement efforts and gain firsthand experience in healthcare management and administration.
Key Areas of Exposure:
Quality Improvement Work alongside the Population Health Manager to support initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes and population health strategies.
Clinical Operations Partner with the Business Office Manager to understand workflows patient throughput billing operations and accesstocare strategies.
Project Management Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Facilities on operational construction and logistical projects impacting regional clinic operations.
Clinical Administration Shadow and assist the Senior Administrative Services Director in coordinating administrative support across clinical departments.
Administration and Finance Gain insight into strategic planning budgeting and operational oversight under the mentorship of the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist assigned leaders with ongoing and new departmental projects including data collection analysis presentations and stakeholder communications.
Participate in team meetings operational reviews and planning sessions to better understand leadership decisionmaking processes.
Conduct research and benchmarking to support recommendations for administrative or clinical improvements.
Prepare reports presentations and summaries that contribute to strategic or operational planning efforts.
Support crossfunctional collaboration between departments to improve efficiency and patient experience.
Observe and document leadership strategies and workflows to apply MHA course concepts in realworld scenarios.
Receive timely feedback from assigned mentors to support professional growth and development.
Align internship tasks and outcomes with course requirements and learning objectives as applicable.
Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the internship.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program.
- Strong interest in healthcare leadership operations finance and administration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools (Excel PowerPoint etc.).
- Professional demeanor critical thinking and problemsolving abilities.
