As a NA Confections R&D food scientist youll be a key champion of the brands consumer experience ensuring the iconic lineup of candy delight and captivate our consumers every day. Youll focus on driving product quality and consistency while adapting to evolving consumer preferences and production constraints. How you will contribute

You will work independently and with a crossfunctional team to plan lead and coordinate technical projects in line with R&D regulatory marketing and manufacturing requirements. You will effectively communicate status & risks and plan lead & coordinate pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements. In addition you will plan lead & coordinate development activities (e.g. product shelflife testing designing for quality consumer test preparation. etc.). To provide direction for product development you will use digital simulation models to understand and interpret consumer insights and commercial information. In this role you will create and maintain accurate consumerled specifications and be responsible for stakeholder management and influencing decisions based on conclusions made from analysis and interpretation of results.

More about this role

What you need to know about this position:

The candidate will be responsible for delivering a variety of projects within the North America Confections portfolio (Halls OvertheCounter Drug and Dietary Supplement Products Sour Patch Kids & Swedish Fish) such as maintaining and optimizing products supporting capacity expansion efforts and delivering against quality and margin management goals.

The candidate must be versatile able to work in crossfunctional teams and be capable of working proactively across multiple projects. The candidate should be able to leverage experts/partners to ensure compliance to documentation shelf life regulatory requirements for NA FTO/IP and confidentiality requirements.

Analyze results of experiments and translate them into actionable recommendations with minimal guidance and support
Have strong knowledge of the commercialization process
Identify and efficiently utilize necessary resources to achieve timely delivery of project objectives
Possess a strong understanding of the functional characteristics of ingredients packaging materials and process unit operations including how they impact finished products to meet consumer expectations.

Education / Certifications:

BS in Food Science Chemical Engineering or related field

Job specific requirements:

Minimum of 5 years of experience preferably in the food industry.
Strong technical foundation and a high level of technical curiosity.
Ability to develop and drive technical project with proper scientific rigor: conduct appropriate testing gather and analyze data and develop recommendations based on findings.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects prioritize and manage complexity from bench top to execution.
Participate in cross functional teams to identify and resolve technical issues.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization

Travel requirements:

Travel up to 30% to locations in Canada US and Mexico.

Work schedule:

This is a fulltime role based in East Hanover NJ with inoffice expectations of 23 days per week.

Salary and Benefits:

The base salary range for this position is $83800 to $115225; the exact salary depends on several factors such as experience skills education and budget. In addition to base salary this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
