JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Summer School Administrator/Coordinator provide support to small groups of students with limited English proficiency in a variety of computerbased instructional classes. Courses will be in the students native language and staff iwll support students in a welcoming environment. Staff will be required to ensure the safety and positive learning environment for all students. Provide daily input to the program coordinator as to student progress challenges/barriers and other needs. Provide encouragement helpful suggestions and general information of how to pass high school level courses A history of building positive relationships with students basic coputer skills and proficiency in Spanish are required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Understands cultural components and works collaboratively with team members. Strong communication skills ability to build relationships with students and parents.

Requirements:

Requires fluency in Spanish and excellent communication skills with speakers of both English and Spanish. Understanding of the experiences working and living conditions language and culture of Hispanic society Prior experience with students in an educational setting and working within the Latino Community.

Education:Two years of college associates degree or passing score on a paraprofessional exam in reading writing and math as required by federal law.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Language Skills:

Fluency in English and strong fluency in Spanish. Ability to write clear and concise communications in English and Spanish.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but basic written or oral instructions in English. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers supervisor(s) staff students parents and community.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk and may be continuously required to stand. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee may be required to sit at a desk and use a computer for long periods of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Works in a classroom environment in close proximity to students and other adults. May encounter students with emotional problems or hostile attitudes. May be required to use a telephone and operate a computer.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Summer SchoolJune 18; June 20th June 28th 2024 plus4 hours of additional training for a total of9 days.

Salary Range9B of the 202425 Classified Wage Schedule $19.97 $25.41 per hour
