Job Description
The AmherstPelham Regional School District is currently seeking highly qualified candidates for the full time position of Special Education Academic Diagnostician for the Amherst Regional School District. The position will involve completing educational assessments for students and serving as a member of the IEP Team in middle and high schools.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conduct comprehensive educational assessments for initial and reevaluations (i.e. WIAT CTOPP KeyMath)
- Analyze evaluation results and develop a well written report detailing the assessment results analysis of the data and development of recommendations
- Collaborate with Team members to develop the student learning profile and recommendations to the IEP Team
- Regular communication and collaboration with staff /administration involved in the Team process
- Collaborate with the special education case managers and families to develop consents for evaluations based on the individual case
- Knowledge and experience with transition planning and guiding assessment planning to include a transition focus
- Engage and partner with applicable families as part of the evaluation and team meeting process
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with middle and high school departments i.e. guidance academic departments
- Routine collaboration with Special Education support staff
- Attend districtwide trainings Special Education department meetings and districtwide Education Team Leader meetings
Qualifications
- Hold/or eligible to hold a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Special Education certification
- Expertise conducting analyzing and writing comprehensive educational assessments
- Experience with culturally diverse populations
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Prior experience working with secondary students is desirable
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrated experience working with and implementing the special education evaluation process parents rights and current special education law and regulations
