About the Work Unit
This position is part of the CSP Electronic Media Unit. This work unit exists to be the central repository for all electronic records created by the Colorado State Patrol. This includes the daytoday activities of maintenance retrieval protection retention and destruction of agency electronic records.

About the Job
Under supervision of the records supervisor this position serves in an operational capacity as an Electronic Media Records Technician. Provides direct service internally to CSP criminal justice agencies and District Attorneys. Performs the daytoday activities of the Electronic Media Unit including the maintenance retrieval protection retention and destruction of agency records; ensures work quality and adherence to established written directives; and performs the more technical and complex tasks to the assigned area of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Records Management

Under general supervision is responsible for confidential complex administrative work involving input retrieval research update and filing; purging of criminal and other law enforcement records. Works with multiple formats of documents including electronic and digital. May work closely with local state and federal law enforcement agencies and judicial districts. This position responds to and processes body worn camera incar camera and other digital media such as dispatch audio and computer aided dispatch records; including the review and redaction of video/audio for public release through the CSPHUB. Ensures the release of records in accordance with state and federal statutes. Calculate fees for copies of digital media prepare and issue invoices.


Liaison

Communicates appropriately with members internal and external partners using any available format. When required attends hearings and provides complete and accurate testimony. Demonstrates an awareness of the cultural diversity of the community.


Occupational Job Functions:
HEARING perceiving the nature of sounds. Used for those activities that require ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sounds such as when making fine adjustments on running engines.
NEAR ACUITY Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. Use this factor when special and minute accuracy is demanded.
REACHING Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
HANDLING Seizing holding grasping turning or otherwise working with hand or hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand.
FINGERING Picking pinching or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.
FEELING Perceiving attributes of objects such as size shape temperature or texture by touching with skin particularly that of fingertips.
TALKING Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Talking is important for those activities in which workers must impart oral information to clients or to the public and in those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately loudly or quickly.

Minimum Qualifications Substitutions Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Note to be considered for this position you must meet one of the following options for consideration.

Two years of professional experience in records management with confidential or sensitive information.

OR

Bachelors Degree in any field from an accredited institution.

SUBSTITUTIONS
Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a yearforyear basis. If education is substituted for work experience an unofficial transcript of the relevant education must be provided with your application.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
  • Experience with managing law enforcement confidential records.
  • Experience working in audio/video software editing and redacting both audio and video.
  • Experience with multiple media platforms/players.
  • Highly skilled in standard computer operating systems and software (Adobe Acrobat Windows Microsoft Office Excel Word PowerPoint) with a strong ability to learn new software.
  • Highly skilled in the Google Workspace including the cloudbased productivity and collaboration tools of Gmail Docs Sheets Slides and Meet.
  • Experience with digital video editing and redaction tools and practices.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Must be a Colorado resident at the time of application.
  • Requires successful completion of a background investigation that includes a polygraph exam a fingerprint based criminal history search and drug testing.
  • Completion or ability to complete the Colorado Certified Records Network (CCRN) Master Records Technician Certification program within one year of appointment.
