  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    The Executive Director of Student Safety and Engagement is a senior leadership position within the district responsible for advancing a safe supportive and equitable learning environment for all K12 students. This role provides visionary leadership in developing implementing and overseeing districtwide policies programs and initiatives focused on student safety behavioral management socialemotional learning and student engagement. The Executive Director collaborates with the Superintendent executive team and school leaders to design and maintain systems that support student wellbeing promote positive behavior and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. They lead district efforts to enhance student support services coordinate crisis response and foster a culture of safety respect and continuous improvement across all schools. This position also ensures transparent and datadriven allocation of resources and partners with families and community stakeholders to build trust and engagement.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    1. Serve as a senior leader in the district collaborating with the Superintendent and executive team to advance strategic social/emotional learning goals and initiatives specifically including the practice of districtwide MultiTiered System of Supports (MTSS) with strategic integration of state and federal categorical resources.
    2. Lead and coordinate districtwide safety initiatives student management systems and wellbeing programs to ensure a secure and supportive environment for all K12 students.
    3. Ensure efficient equitable datadriven and transparent allocation of the districts financial resources.
    4. Lead the development and implementation of districtwide policies and initiatives focused on student safety behavior management and engagement.
    5. Collaborate with Executive Directors for Elementary and Secondary Schools to refine systems and practices that promote safety and engagement at all levels of schooling.
    6. Support the continuous development of leadership skills in administrators across the district.
    7. Provide oversight and leadership for district counseling services including behavioral health supports and socialemotional learning initiatives.
    8. Provide visionary leadership in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal laws related to safety protocols student services and student management.
    9. Support systems for districtwide student management ensuring alignment with district policies state and federal regulations and best practices to ensure consistency equity safety and effectiveness in behavioral interventions.
    10. Support systems and initiatives that ensure efficient effective safety protocols at all district locations.
    11. Oversee the implementation of restorative practices behavior interventions and socialemotional learning programs to support students academic and personal growth.
    12. Support principals and staff in addressing student conflicts behavioral crises and safety concerns in a timely and constructive manner.
    13. Oversee professional development initiatives aligned with the districts strategic plan designing and implementing training programs that support teachers and administrators in effective student support strategies and leadership development.
    14. Collaborate with principals directors and community partners to coordinate efforts that support students physical emotional and psychological safety.
    15. Support supervise and mentor directors assistant directors principals and instructional leaders to foster a culture of continuous improvement high expectations and excellence on behalf of all students.
    16. Lead the design and execution of threat assessment processes to proactively identify and mitigate potential risks to student and staff safety.
    17. Ensure effective professional development opportunities for administrators and staff related to student wellbeing threat assessment deescalation traumainformed practices and crisis response.
    18. Partner with families and community stakeholders to foster transparent communication engagement and trust in the districts efforts to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
    19. Develop and implement systems for monitoring and evaluating programs and services using datadriven decisionmaking to inform policy and practice.
    20. Serve as an advisor to district leadership and the school board on matters related to student services student management and student mental health providing expert guidance and recommendations.
    21. Serve in partnership with the districts Title IX coordinator as the districts Harassment Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) Compliance Officer leading investigations.
    22. Serve as the districts Hearing Officer overseeing formal hearings related to student issues.
    23. Connect student support and operational aspects of the school district with school and district improvement plans.
    24. Serve as the district coordinator for state compliance in related areas.
    25. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
    This position reports directly to the Deputy Superintendent.
    MENTAL DEMANDS
    This position requires high levels of focus the ability to manage competing priorities and comfort navigating sensitive or emotionally charged issues. The Executive Director must exercise sound judgment and professionalism in highpressure situations.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Education and Experience
    • Valid Washington State Administrative Credential.
    • Masters Degree in Educational Leadership School Administration or a related field.
    • Minimum of three years of successful educational administrative experience including experience as a building principal or districtlevel administrator.
    • Experience with school safety planning student services or crisis response preferred.
    • Central office leadership experience preferred.
    Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    • Knowledge of laws and regulations related to school safety student discipline and wellbeing.
    • Familiarity with counseling programs behavior intervention strategies and support systems for diverse learners.
    • Proven ability to lead largescale initiatives and manage crossdepartmental collaboration.
    • Strong communication conflict resolution and public engagement skills.
    • Demonstrated commitment to equity diversity and inclusion.
    • Ability to design evaluate and refine systems for continuous improvement.

    Licenses/Special Requirements
    Requires fingerprinting and background check. Must complete Washington State Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Release.

    UNIT AFFILIATION
    This is a nonunion Executive Level 2 exempt position.
