Job Description

School Year

Location: Clyde Boyd Middle School

Position: 6th 8th Grade Assistant Principal

Days: 200 days per year

Months: 11 months

Hours: 8 hours daily

FSA: Exempt

Supervisor: Building Principal Assistant Superintendent(s) Superintendent

Evaluation Method: McRel Administrators

Training and Experience:

  • Masters Degree in Education or a related field required
  • Must have a valid Oklahoma Administrators License
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience is required
  • One (1) year of administrative and/or supervisory experience (preferred).

Summary

The school Assistant Principal serves as a supportive educational leader responsible for managing the policies regulations and procedures to ensure all scholars and students are supervised in a safe learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school. Achieving academic excellence requires all administrative leaders to work collaboratively to direct and nurture all school staff members and communicate effectively with parents. Possible responsibilities for scheduling curriculum development extracurricular activities personnel management emergency procedures facility operations managing PLCs etc. are inherent in the position.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all scholars and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior.
  • Manage evaluate and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the school consistent with its philosophy mission values and goals. These include instructional programs extracurricular activities and discipline systems to ensure a safe and orderly climate building maintenance program evaluation personnel management office operations and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws district policies SDE requirements and civil regulations.
  • Aide in establishing the annual master schedule for instructional programs ensuring sequential student learning experiences consistent with the networks philosophy mission statement and instructional goals.
  • Supervise the schools instructional programs evaluate lesson plans and observe classes (teaching as duties allow) regularly to encourage the use of various instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development.
  • Aide in establishing procedures for evaluation and selection of instructional materials.
  • Research and collect data regarding the needs of scholars and other pertinent information.
  • Keep the staff informed and seek ideas for the improvement of the school.
  • Implement the guidelines and expectations for Sand Springs Public Schools Continuous Strategic Plan.
  • Conduct meetings as necessary for the proper functioning of the weekly school meetings for fulltime and parttime staff.
  • Establish procedures that create and maintain attractive organized functional healthy clean and safe facilities with proper attention to the visual acoustic and temperature.
  • Assume responsibility for the health safety and welfare of scholars employees and visitors.e
  • Develop clearly understood procedures and provide regular drills for emergencies and disasters.
  • Possibly maintain a master schedule to be posted for all teachers.
  • Establish schedules and procedures for supervising scholars in nonclassroom areas (including before and after school).
  • Follow all expectations and demands for Accreditation.
  • Maintain visibility with teachers students administrators and parents.
  • Communicate regularly with parents seeking their support and advice to create a cooperative relationship that will benefit the schools students.
  • Supervise the districts facilities as directed by the building principal and administrators.
  • Use practical presentation skills when addressing teachers staff parents and the community including appropriate vocabulary and examples clear and legible visuals and articulate and audible speech.
  • Use excellent written and oral English skills when communicating with teachers staff and parents.
  • Complete all records and reports as requested by the network quickly.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records.
  • Monitor and aid teachers and students during Distant Learning times.
  • Due to disciplinary actions monitor and aid teachers and students enrolled in virtual learning periods.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to speak clearly in a wellmodulated voice with good diction. Ability to read write and interpret English in various forms. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

An employee must meet the physical demands described here to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform basic functions. While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee will be lifting bending and crawling under desks and counters; must be able to raise a minimum of fifty (50) pounds. The employee will be standing and climbing stairs.
