The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) provides multidisciplinary security support for DoD government security programs. The role of Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) requires thorough understanding and application of approaches theories methodologies and application of DoD compliance and regulation standards within a complex technical environment.

Role Overview:
As an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) you will provide multidisciplinary security support for DoD government security programs. This fulltime onsite role requires a thorough understanding of DoD compliance and regulation standards as well as the ability to manage secure programs and assess new areas and technologies for compliance. Your work will be critical to ensuring the security and integrity of GE Aerospaces systems and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of policies such as NISPOM JSIG ICD 503 and DAAPM to ensure compliance.
  • Execute Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes including package development POA&Ms ConMon Security Plans Risk Assessments and system/site policies.
  • Manage change control configuration management and information assurance processes.
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) security in depth (SID) plans and security policies.
  • Handle security incidents and conduct investigations independently.
  • Utilize Splunk or other SIEM/threat detection platforms for monitoring and analysis.
  • Audit large network environments with multiple operating systems and applications (Windows Linux VMware Cisco).
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and provide risk mitigation solutions.
  • Manage Communications Security (COMSEC) equipment and NSA requirements.

: The ability to identify evaluate and prioritize potential threats and vulnerabilities and to develop strategies to mitigate these risks. Understand the internal and external factors that impact the organization including market trends competitive landscape and regulatory requirements.

Information & Analytical Thinking: the ability to collect analyze and interpret information from various sources to anticipate and counteract potential security threats while thinking critically and analytically to solve complex security problems and make informed decisions.

Adaptability and Resilience: The capacity to adapt to changing security landscapes and recover quickly from setbacks or incidents.

Interpersonal Skills & Customer Service: Strong interpersonal abilities effective networking and collaboration capabilities and cultural competence. High emotional intelligence and selfawareness are essential for fostering a respectful approach to security operations.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey security policies procedures and incident reports to stakeholders at all levels. Active listening & relationship building.

Project Management: The ability to plan execute and oversee security projects ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum of a DoD Top Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college or relevant military/proven career experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in DoD government security programs.
  • CompTIA Security certification or other DoD 8570 or 8140 qualifications.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills.

  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
  • Primary Location: Grand Rapids Aero MI US
  • Background and drug screening required.
  • Physical requirements: Ability to work in a secure environment and meet physical demands as needed.
  • Environmental notes: Work may involve exposure to secure technical environments.
