Job Description:
Under the direction of a radiologist performs procedures involving the application of prescribed radiopharmaceuticals for the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement to obtain imaging for radiologic diagnosis at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. Ensures radiation safety standards and practices and maintains documentation. Serves as an ambassador of UTMC in the community demonstrating our organizations values services and mission.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
1. Demonstrates clinical competency in caring of patients as identified in departments Scope of Care.
2. Demonstrates competency in the care of the patient in the following stages of the life cycle: infants children adolescents adults and geriatrics as well as special population needs.
3. Effectively responds to customer service needs.
a. Demonstrates effective age and culturally appropriate interaction with patients families and other member of the health care team.
b. Adheres to UTMCs Customer Service values and iCare Standards.
c. Seeks out ways to assist patients and coworkers.
4. Actively participates in performance improvement activities as related to job duties.
5. Responsible for compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.
Required Education/Experience/Licensing:
1. Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMAapproved school in Nuclear Medicine.
2. ARRT (N) and/or NMTCB registered with current ODH licensure.
3. 1 year PET/CT experience or be PET/CT advanced registry eligible preferred.
4. PET/CT advanced certification is preferred.
5. CPR certification through the American Heart Association.
Required Communication and other skills:
Possesses skills in communication; both verbal and written.
1. With medical staff and hospital personnel as well as referring physicians and their offices; stats and critical test results.
2. Uses verbal and written communication to report data concerning patients to appropriate individuals in an accurate timely and confidential manner.
3. Promptly reports any errors or deviations from operational standards.
4. Identifies self to customers as Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
5. Direct all incoming telephone and written communication to the appropriate section of Radiology.
