Job Description

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY

ASSIGNMENT: Paid Internship

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to the Software Development Manager or in their absence to the Director of Computer Services.

SCOPE OF INTERNSHIP: Intern will work with experienced programmers to gain knowledge and experience in entrylevel programming and testing. This is a temporary position with no guarantee of permanent employment at the end of the internship.

REQUIRED ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop new or modify existing code for primarily entrylevel tasks.
  2. Test and debug code to ensure it matches the outlined business requirements.
  3. Mentors with more senior level developers for code review proper coding standards desired development approaches and security protocols.
  4. Understands and can use source control for checking in programming changes.
  5. Performs other duties as assigned by the Software Development Manager or assigned mentor / designee.

EDUCATION SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum requirement is a High School Diploma/General Education Diploma (GED) and current enrollment in a postsecondary education program leading to an Associates or Bachelors degree in a computer related course of study.
  • Must show completion of a minimum of twelve (12) credits earned in computer science course work.
  • Adept at using Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel) artificial intelligence as well as using virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom Skype and Microsoft Teams.
  • Requires complex problemsolving skills to identify problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Requires selfstarting skills as well as being detail oriented.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills to coordinate and prioritize the tasks based on project deadlines as several projects can be assigned simultaneously.
  • Must have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with nontechnical team members and/or clients.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current approved Act 34 (PA State Police) Act 151 (PA Child Abuse Registry) and Act 114FBI Fingerprint clearances are required and must be renewed at appropriate specific intervals pursuant to Act 153 of 2014 (revised Act 15 of 2015).
  • Current approved Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training certificate showing completion of a minimum of three (3) hours training every five (5) years.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Continuously refresh expand and obtain knowledge of various software and technical areas to advance the capacity to provide services. This includes reading books trade publications and utilizing resources and websites available through the internet.
  • Attend relevant conferences trainings and inservices to maintain and enhance professional development as recommended by the immediate supervisor or as required of this internship opportunity.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sedentary: Able to sit for extended periods of time occasional walking standing (as necessary) and able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Dexterity: Finger movements (computer keyboard calculator) eyehand coordination (office equipment etc.).
  • AudioVisual Requirements: Within normal range with or without correction.
  • Is able to move throughout all buildings floors and grounds.
  • Worksite Environment: Primarily indoorsoffice setting with occasional exposure to outdoor elements/climate during the day.
  • Mental demands: Steady response to unpredictable situations ability to remain calm and productive during stressful situations. Demonstrates independent judgment discretion and is able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Ability to travel to various work site locations and meetings as needed.

TIME REQUIREMENTS:

  • This is a temporary parttime nonexempt internship not to exceed 29 hours per week. Additional working hours must be preapproved by immediate supervisor.
  • Intern will primarily work remotely but may be required to be present at the CSIU main office when required and requested.
  • Hours will be set by the Software Development Manager and in accordance with the interns course schedule.

CSIU PROPERTY AND CONFIDENTIALITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • All property including intellectual property materials equipment or actual products and services developed or accrued as part of the job duties and responsibilities listed above is the property of the CSIU. It may not be used for personal profit or gain and will be relinquished to the CSIU upon termination of employment from the CSIU.
  • The intern shall maintain confidentiality with regard to the personal and private information about clients and coworkers programs and services and any other proprietary information accrued as a result of the internship or as required by state or federal laws and regulations.
  • The person employed in this position must adhere to all requirements identified in the code of professionalism entitled Ambassadors Are Professionals Too and CSIU Administrative Regulation 317AR1CSIU Service Standards.
