Job Description:
L3Harris Operations in Rochester NY is looking for an inspector for the Optical Manufacturing department. We are seeking a detailoriented Optical Inspector to perform visual and dimensional inspections of highprecision optical components and assemblies. The ideal candidate will have experience with industry inspection standards strong manual dexterity and a sharp eye for detail. This role requires the ability to interpret technical drawings use precision measurement tools and lift components weighing up to 35 pounds. Essential Functions:
- Perform detailed inspections of precision optical components and assemblies to verify conformance to specifications and drawings.
- Conduct surface quality assessments using industry standards (e.g. MILPRF13830B).
- Inspect for defects such as scratches digs chips and coating irregularities using eye loupes microscopes and other metrology tools.
- Measure critical dimensions using micrometers calipers height gauges and other precision instruments.
- Interpret drawings specifications and work instructions to validate inspection criteria.
- Document inspection results clearly and accurately; complete final inspection reports as required.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to communicate quality issues and support root cause investigations.
- Assist in the development and improvement of inspection procedures and protocols.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Maintain inspection equipment and ensure calibration status is current.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years postSecondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precise and accurate inspections.
- Proficient in using precision hand tools and optical inspection equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent problemsolving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and ability to document and report findings clearly.
- Ability to lift and move components and inspection fixtures up to 35 pounds
- Experience working in a cleanroom or controlled environment.
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and other quality improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of optical coatings lens fabrication and assembly processes.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements the salary range for this role in New York State is $21.15/hr $39.18/hr.This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
