Hennepin County Public Works is seeking a Principal Engineering Technician to join the Design division within the Transportation Project Delivery department. This position will work as part of a team to deliver roadway reconstruction projects with opportunities for professional and technical growth through training and working with other experienced roadway design professionals.

Location and hours: This position is hybrid and will be performed both onsite at the Public Works Facility 1600 Prairie Drive Medina MN 55340 and remote as job duties require. There is no public transportation to this facility. Work hours are flexible between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. While this position is designated as hybrid based on current requirements hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefitearning employees is inperson in downtown Minneapolis. Designing and reviewing preliminary and detailed public works roadway reconstruction plans.
Directing a work team and/or coordinating work with other internal department divisions.
Utilizing complex computer software such as CAD (OpenRoads InRoads Geopak Civil 3D or equivalent) or spreadsheets.
Reading and interpreting engineering design manuals technical memorandums construction plans specifications and other jobrelated forms.
Knowledge of the fundamentals of traffic engineering civil engineering engineering construction materials equipment and practices.
Ability to:
Maintain effective relationships with contractors residents and coworkers.
Schedule prioritize and balance several tasks/projects.
Work independently and in teams with minimal lead worker direction.
