Job Overview:
Our client is seeking a proactive and technically skilled Field Service Engineer to join their UK and Ireland service team. This fieldbased role involves providing highquality technical support for a wide range of equipment used in laboratory and research environments. The successful candidate will perform planned preventive maintenance reactive repairs installation commissioning and enduser training ensuring consistent service delivery that meets both company standards and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Attend customer sites as scheduled always ensuring punctuality and professionalism.
Carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) breakdowns and repairs according to defined standards and safety procedures.
Support installation and commissioning of new systems ensuring equipment is set up to provide longterm reliable operation.
Deliver enduser training and demonstrations to ensure effective and safe equipment use.
Accurately complete and submit job reports and service documentation using an electronic job management system.
Communicate clearly and effectively with internal teams including the helpdesk and customer service departments.
Foster positive customer relationships representing the companys values and identifying potential business opportunities.
Maintain tools van stock and shared equipment to agreed standards.
Actively participate in training and development initiatives to enhance technical knowledge and customer service skills.
Contribute to departmental meetings forums and improvement projects to support team development and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate will
Essential:
Proven experience in a field service or technical support role
Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
Excellent communication and customerfacing abilities
IT proficiency particularly in using job management or CRM systems
Full UK driving licence
Willingness to travel across the UK and Ireland with occasional overnight stays
Desirable:
Knowledge of ISO quality standards or service accreditation frameworks
Technical qualifications (e.g. HNC/HND NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in engineering disciplines)
