Job Description

AECOM is searching for an Inspector for municipal infrastructure projects.  This is a fulltime position based in London ON. Projects primarily consist of road reconstructions land development water distribution sanitary and storm sewers and water resources/stormwater management.  The successful candidate will be assigned to a project based on their skillset and area of expertise.  Project assignments can be in and out of the London Region.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Liaison on site with contractor client other approving authorities including addressing resident concerns
  • Oversee daily onsite operations
  • Work closely with the Project Engineer and Project Manager to ensure construction is in compliance with project specifications
  • Preparation and maintenance of daily work logs and other project documentation and reporting;
  • Schedule and conduct regular project meetings with the contractor and client
  • Provide clarification of drawings and direction to the contractor with remote support from the Project Engineer
  • Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality performance specifications and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties.
  • Carry out surveys and measurements for quantity calculations
  • Complete surveys for the preparation of record drawings
  • Participates in punch lists testing and commissioning.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Project Construction Completion and Final Acceptance Certificate; and
  • Training of entrylevel employees.

 

 


Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • 4 years of relevant experience in a field role on water infrastructure projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Driving license and access to own vehicle
  • Surveying experience
  • Strong computer skills (Word and Excel)
  • Candidate will be required to follow AECOM Safety Policies and promote them by example
  • Ability to read and interpret Civil construction drawings and specifications
  • Ability to work unsupervised 
  • Ability to document inspection and prepare field reports

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience with the following:
  • Experience with civil water and wastewater construction projects 
  • Projects of the same type e.g. road reconstructions land development water distribution systems sewage collection systems sanitary sewer rehabilitation projects etc.
  • Construction methods of open cut vertical trenching and trenchless technologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to details is essential skill
  • Experience working around mobile heavy equipment
  • Familiar with materials testing procedures and construction coordination services
  • Ability to read and interpret Civil construction drawings and specifications
  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D is an asset
