Role description:

Arcadis Canada is seeking an Intermediate Environmental Scientist/Engineer to join our Environmental Team in Canada. This position will be based out of British Columbia. Travel to sites throughout region will be required and there is an opportunity to travel across Canada.

This role sits within the Global Resilience Business Area. We work to protect our natural environment and water resources while powering our world for future generations. Around the world were feeling the effects climate change rapid urbanization loss of biodiversity. The rate at which were seeing largescale unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires is becoming more frequent. We are here to protect our natural environment and water resources while powering our world for future generations.

Role accountabilities:

As an Intermediate Environmental Scientist/Engineer you will work with Project Managers to coordinate and execute activities pertaining to the execution of environmental projects including data gap reviews phase I and II environmental site assessments and remediation projects. This role includes coordinating and conducting site visits and inspections monitoring and supervising drilling and/or remediation activities preparing field notes and collecting soil and groundwater samples and writing environmental reports.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Strong understanding of field protocols including soil groundwater and vapour sampling and overseeing drilling activities and subcontractor management
  • Maintain knowledge and familiarity with provincial and federal regulatory frameworks
  • Diligent interpretation of environmental data
  • Comparison of sample results to applicable guidelines and standards
  • Preparation of reports documenting the results of investigation programs
  • Independently supervise contractors (drillers daylighters utility locators etc.)

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Technical Diploma or bachelors degree in environmental science engineering earth sciences or related field
  • 3 years of experiencein soil groundwater or vapour sampling and overseeing drilling activities and subcontractor management preferred
  • Eligibility for professional designation in British Columbia is an asset

Key skills for the role also include:

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor junior colleagues fostering their professional growth and development
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication interpersonal and writing skills; strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint)
