Job Description

Summary: Works under the direction of the Principal and/or Facility Director/Facility for cleaning performing routine maintenance and care of the grounds keeping the physicalplant well maintained and in clean condition at all times. Manages requests regarding custodial servicesand takes appropriate and/or necessary action. Participates in job related training instructions Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)1. Performs and oversees routine and preventative maintenance at assigned location(s) a. Ensures HVAC and DDC systems are operational and running efficiently as well coordinate preventative and corrective maintenance actions with subcontractors. b. Ensures Electrical and lighting meets code and is operating efficiently c. Maintains safe roadways sidewalks and entrances in accordance with the district snow and ice control procedures. d. Operates and maintains the equipment which includes but is not limited to school truck tractor auto scrubber wet/dry vacuums buffing machines and carpet extractors. e. Performs seasonal grounds work. Maintains exterior areas of buildings by mowing trimming raking and picking up debris. Also clears snow and ice from egress routes and roofs as needed. f. Works with outside contractors to ensure work is done according to specifications and on time. g. Handles chemicals cleaning solutions and power equipment in accordance with product specifications and with all safety rules and regulations. Disposes of hazardous wastes according to district policies and established State and EPA standards. h. Maintains facility(s) water system to include appropriate testing (coordinate with water system operator) i. Maintains facility records including but not limited to water system HVAC and other mechanical O&Ms SDS and asbestos management plans.2. Responsible for the daily custodial operations in assigned location(s) in compliance with the district cleaning standards procedures. a. Daily cleaning of assigned building section(s) b. Ensures the neat and clean appearance of the building(s) at all times. Conducts periodic building walkthrough with self and/or Principal/Facilities Director/Coordinator. c. Coordinates scheduling of custodial crew for general maintenance cleaning and other building needs d. Orders and restocks disposable supplies e. Maintains equipment and supplies inventories. f. Uses technology resources to review daily needs and to prepare necessary building and equipment setups. g. Prepared facility for evening/night and weekend events h. Reports all relevant problems associated with the building to the Principal and/or Facility Director/Coordinator. i. Ensures that established protocols for annual building openings and closings are met.3. Assists in building security and student safety by: a. Serving on the District and/or building Crisis and Safety Teams. b. Ensuring building/fire codes are met c. Assists with Fire Drills and Lockdowns. d. Expected to be oncall for any emergencies. e. Knowledgeable of all emergency shut offs (gas electric and water.) f. Maintain a safe campus by making sure that all windows and doors are secure at appropriate times and end of day.4. Performs other duties as assigned by building principal Facilities Director or Facilities Responsibilities: Manages assigned support staff in accordance with the Principal andFacility Director/Coordinator directives and the Districts policies and applicable laws. Assignedresponsibilities may include interviewing hire recommendations training planning assigning anddirecting work; appraising performance; addressing complaints; and resolving that work is performed in a safe and responsible way at all times. Presents a neat clean andappropriately dressed manner. The ability to work in a collaborative team environment is essential tothe employees successful job performance.
