Job Title: COORDINATOR FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

EXEMPT: Yes JOB CODE:

LOCATION: Pendergast Learning Center TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Month

REPORTS TO: Director for Special Education DATE APPROVED:

SUMMARY:

The Coordinator for Early Childhood Education (PreK 3) will be responsible for assisting the Director for Special Education in the operation of all Early Childhood programs. Duties will include developing monitoring and evaluating of curricular and programmatic components delivering extensive training and inservice as well as providing resources and support to staff.

SUPERVISES:

All Early Childhood Education Staff

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A. in one of the following areas:
    • Elementary Education
    • Special Education
    • Early Childhood
    • Early Childhood Special Education

  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate
  • Minimum five years teaching experience
  • Teaching experience in Early Childhood programs
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood development
  • Experience working with teachers support staff and administration

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Arizona Administrative or Supervisory Certificate
  • Preschool experience
  • Reading Endorsement
  • ESL BLE or SEI Endorsement

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in the coordination and implementation of all Early Childhood Education programs and assessments
  2. Collaborate with private and federal preschool providers
  3. Provide staff development in Early Childhood Education programs and licensing requirements
  4. Coordinate accreditation for District Preschools
  5. Coordinate PreKindergarten and Kindergarten assessments
  6. Prepare and submit program evaluations and reports
  7. Assist in the recruitment and hiring of teachers and paraprofessionals
  8. Monitor instructional delivery
  9. Mentor new Early Childhood Education staff
  10. Assist in the development and refinement of Early Childhood Education curriculums and training of District Staff
  11. Coordinate District Preschool and Reading First Programs
  12. Collaborate with Head Start placements
  13. Serve as a source of information on developmentally appropriate practices and current research relative to Early Childhood Education
  14. Provide resources and support to the classroom teachers
  15. Collaborate with District licensure staff relative to County/State Health Departments for inspection concerns
  16. Responsible for PreK 3 Early Childhood Education programs licensure and reports to State Department
  17. Monitor PreK 3 Early Childhood Education budgets and grants
  18. Research evaluation and procurement of intervention reading programs
  19. Ability to work with others
  20. Ability to work under pressure
  21. Perform such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent/Designee

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provision of the Board policy or evaluation of professional personnel.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several concrete variables

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read analyze and interpret education materials and programs; ability to write reports procedure manuals and correspondence; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of teachers students administration and the community.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical such as probability and statistical inference; ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.
