Responsibilities
Develops maintains updates and implements healthcare policies procedures and protocols including management of the electronic medical records system and/or other documentation and compliance and quality assurance processes. Develop monitoring and operational systems to assess financial performance of facilities. Develops clinical practice guidelines across all facilities attended by MatureCare. Mentors physicians and NPs in the practice of geriatrics and primary care. Participate in strategic and operations planning for MatureCare implement and maintain operating plans and annual implementation plans to meet MatureCare strategic goals and objectives. Participate with Department Chair and Director of Finance and Administration to plan administer and oversee the operating and capital purchase budgets of MatureCare. Participate in preparation of feasibility studies for new initiatives. Develop and modify MatureCare services programs facilities and operating systems in accordance with overall MatureCare objectives and resources and patient and student/resident needs. Keep abreast of new developments and innovations in health services delivery and management. Ensures NPs and physicians are aware of and compliant with departmental institutional educational accreditation as appropriate. Coordinates with department chair on deployment of physician faculty. Provides ongoing and summative reviews of clinical staff professional staff and services of the MatureCare program. Exercises departmental budgetary planning implementation and review. Considered Essential Personnel in the event of a campus local or federal health emergency or crisis situation. Provide direct medical care to MatureCare patients:provide evening and weekend services on an oncall basis. Provide clinical instruction to nursing and other clinical staff as required. Provide formal and informal clinical instruction and supervision for medical nursing and medical assistant students working with MatureCare. Provide bedside teaching of students in the College of Osteopathic Medicine Coordinate MatureCare clinical instruction with UNECOM curriculum administrators and the faculty principal for MatureCare clinical experiences and clerkships. Commit to actively fostering a welcoming culture of inclusion and diversity. Understand and comply with MSDS and HAZCOM procedures and policies as part of UNEs comprehensive OSHA compliance program. Understand and comply with OSHAs Bloodborne Pathogen Standard ( 29 CFR 1910.1030) and Chapter 8 of the University of New England Safety Manual. Understand and comply with OSHA requirements (29 CFR Part 1910) for Personal Protective Equipment ( PPE ) as defined by the University Chemical Hygiene Officers the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator ( EHSC ) the supervisor and Chapter 17 of the University of New England Safety Manual. Perform other related duties as necessary.
Qualifications
Osteopathic or allopathic physician with eligible license in Maine with relevant training/experience in primary care/family practice/internal medicine or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired. The ideal candidate is interested in modeling how osteopathic principles and practice and osteopathic manipulative medicine are integrated into holistic care of the older adult in multiple settings. Broad and indepth technical knowledge and skills related to the practice of family medicine or internal medicine. Relevant training and experience serving the geriatric population. Certificate of qualifications or fellowship trained in Geriatrics is highly desirable. Good formal and informal teaching and supervisory skills. Good planning and administrative skills. Ongoing demonstration of ability to speak clearly and comfortably. Ability to use tact discretion and sensitivity in conversing with patients families and health care staff. Excellent written verbal and presentation skills. Good interviewing and counseling skills. Ability to explain medical problems and treatments in accurate and understandable lay language. Ability to collaborate effectively and efficiently with other UHC / UNECOM / UNE personnel as well as with a wide range of individuals and organizations outside of the University system.
