TheSkilled Trades Specialist IV position duties include but are not limited to:
Performingmaintenance and repairs for all building systems to maintain the facility.
Installingrepairing and maintaining plumbing systems.
Performingmaintenance and repairs on various electrical equipment and fixtures.
Performsroad repair and walkways.
Applyingplaster to walls and ceilings repairing damaged surfaces and performingconcrete work on various structures.
Preparesinterior and exterior surfaces for painting.
Operatescentral air conditioning plants and equipment conducts safety inspections ofboilers and provides oversight to the cleaning repair and maintenance of furnacesand boilers.
Providingyearround outside grounds maintenance for DJS facilities to maintain a safeand properly manicured property
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency
certificate.
Experience: Five years of experience performing skilled trade work in plumbing carpentry electrical HVAC locksmith masonry painting or welding work.
Note:
1. Candidates may substitute additional years of experience for the required education on a yearforyear basis.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a noncommissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair on a yearforyear basis for the required experience.
1. Carries out repairs tobuildings as a Skilled Trades Specialist IV. Exhibits the ability to
interpret and analyze specificinstructions provided by the supervising Maintenance Supervisor
IV for minor repairs.
2. Performs the PreventiveMaintenance plan as instructed for the facility plant operation in
accordance with all requiredrepairs.
3. Performs all responsibilitiesassigned by the supervising Maintenance Supervisor IV; exhibits
skills necessary to operate allmaintenance tools.
4. Performs emergency repairs.
5. Performs functions as relatedto Logistics Control.
6. Performs proper operation ofall State owned vehicles and ground equipment in accordance
with all DJS policies.
7. Daily record keeping to ensurecompliance with DJS and ACA standards.
8. Responds to the facility wheninstructed to complete repairs and for weather related facility
1. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
2. Employees in this classification who perform electrical work and are assigned to facilities that mandate licensed electricians must possess a current license as a Master Electrician or other appropriate electrician license from a local board or from the Maryland State Board of Master Electricians 500 N. Calvert Street Baltimore Maryland.
3. Employees in this classification who perform work as a plumber must possess a Maryland Journeyman/Gas Fitter License.
