Summary
The Lead Facilities Technician supports the mission of The Museum of Flight by assisting with the Facilities departments day to day assignments maintenance and event support needs. In collaboration with the Facilities Manager this position is responsible for coordinating logistics and communication with internal and external stakeholders. This position works closely with the manager in keeping the Museum in good repair and supports facilities needs for Museum events special projects and related maintenance. Additionally this position oversees relevant loading dock activities; receiving logging delivery of incoming shipments and upkeep of loading areas.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Respond to facility maintenance task requests in a timely costeffective manner; assign communicate mentor and assist Facility Technicians as needed throughout the project using the Facilities task management system.
- Work cross departmentally to coordinate and support Private and Museum events including planning meetings setup and breakdown.
- Provide basic repairs and maintenance of Museum buildings related equipment and systems including but not limited to electrical plumbing door operators furniture systems painting and building materials as assigned.
- Assign and assist with setup and breakdown of nonpermanent event fixtures such as tables chairs and backdrop curtains (pipe and drape).
- Create purchase orders for department supplies tools and inventories and assist with procurement of necessary materials including pickup when applicable.
- Oversee loading dock activities and areas; shipping and receiving duties keeping area neat organized and running safely including adherence to all OSHA WISHA and Museum safety regulations.
- Work with the department leadership on short and longterm projects as assigned.
- Assist and assign routine checks and basic maintenance to Museum vehicles and equipment.
- Occasionally assigned to oversee facilities functions and team. Oversee contractual vendor and/or volunteer staff members when applicable.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- A High School diploma or equivalent. Associates degree in a related field a plus.
- A minimum of five (5) years of previous work experience in a facilities maintenance role.
- Experience working with work management/ticketing systems experience is highly preferred.
- Experience in supervising or leading a work team is highly preferred.
Knowledge
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of repairs and maintenance of commercial buildings and systems including some electrical plumbing door operators furniture systems painting and building materials.
- Knowledge of various chemicals and materials used in facility maintenance including but not limited to cleaners lubricants sealers paints patching compounds paving and construction materials.
- Knowledge of safety and security practices procedures and regulations concerning the proper use of equipment and materials including knowledge of OSHA and WISHA requirements.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft 365 including Excel Word and Outlook.
Skill
- Effective project management skills; strong prioritization and organizational skills in a complex and diverse body of work.
- Displays effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
Abilities
- Demonstrated ability in prioritizing and completing multiple projects while being flexible in a changing diverse and team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to diverse populations.
- Able and willing to take initiative to improve processes.
License & Certification
- Current drivers license required with an acceptable driving record.
- Able to fulfill certification in the operation of lift equipment that include fork and scissor lifts.

- Schedule is set by the Manager with flexibility for evening and variable hours based on Museum need.
- Some local travel is expected for this position.
- Onsite attendance is essential to perform the duties of this position.
- Local and some out of area travel is expected for this position.

- Able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
- The ability to bend carry reach to the side front and overhead push pull focus walk stand twist and squat are often requirements for this position.
- Requires the ability to operate various motorized and nonmotorized lifting equipment.
- Good balance and able to work on cat walks in high elevation using fall protection and confined lift platforms.
- Exposure to objects and chemicals that require strict adherence to safety guidelines.
- Must be able to be physically active for the duration of a shift. This position works in an office environment with long sedentary periods and repetitive wrist and arm movement.

Compensation
The hourly range for this position is$27.00to$37.00depending on experience.
