Under the direction of the Senior Center Manager the Fitness Coordinator assists with the development implementation and evaluation of the overall fitness and wellness programming of the senior center. This position will supervise the operations of the fitness center and the use of the cardio strength and other equipment. The Fitness Coordinator will design and execute group fitness classes; assess evaluate and monitor clients; and develop personalized training programs working oneonone with clients and small groups. This role will lead evidencebased health promotion programs in fall preventions selfmanagement arthritis exercise and others.
Essential Job Functions
Work with Senior Center Manager to develop plan implement and evaluate the overall fitness and wellness programming for the senior center and manage the fitness centers cardio strength and other fitness equipment.
Research trends and innovations in fitness programming and services at senior centers and the fitness profession and translate and/or implement at the senior center.
Supervise the daytoday operations of the fitness center including developing and implementing orientations and training volunteers wait times etc.
Design and execute individual and group exercise fitness classes.
Serve as a trained leader and/or master trainer in evidencebased health promotion programs including but not limited to Enhance Wellness Enhance Fitness Fall Proof and Balance Matter of Balance Arthritis Foundations Exercise Program Walking Program and Tai Chi and Stanfords Chronic Disease SelfManagement Program and Diabetes SelfManagement Program.
Design and conduct workout routines specific to the needs of clients working oneonone and with small groups as necessary.
Provide assistance and support in all areas of senior center operation as needed including but not limited to financial transactions program registrations customer service promotion of the center in the community with potential members updating program registration and membership databases and responsible for opening and/or closing the facility.

Licensing/Certification
Certification as a Personal Trainer by a nationally recognized organization and certification as a Group Fitness Instructor.
Education
Bachelors degree in exercise science exercise physiology physical education or other similar degree preferred.
Work Experience
Two years of experience as a personal trainer and/or fitness instructor.
Experience working with older adults.
