Job Description:

The UF Health Cancer Center is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the onlyone at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center we span 12 of the University of Floridas 16 colleges pulling together a worldclass multidisciplinary membership of over 330 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure.

As anEvents Assistantat the UF Health Cancer Center (UFHCC) you will be responsible for supporting our seminar series and conducting our external visitors and guest speakers between meetings throughout the Health Science Center and UF campus.

Ideal applicants will be highly responsible professional in appearance and demeanor and possess excellent communication skills as well as an inherent skill set and desire to provide exceptional customer service. This position requires a valid Florida drivers license and transporting guests using office vehicles including golf carts.

In your new role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Transporting external visitors and guest speakers between meetings throughout the Health Science Center and UF Campus.
  • Providing coverage for reception in our main office.
  • Supporting the Cancer Center seminar series and events.

This position is parttime and will be scheduled for up to 20 hours per week with some flexibility for ongoing projects special events and other related business needs. Applicants should have consistent availability from 7:00 AM 5:00 PM on Wednesdays and Fridays with flexibility to work on other weekdays as needed based on events and project demands; work hours and arrival times may vary accordingly.

This is an entrylevel position ideal for candidates with strong interpersonal skills customer service experience a professional demeanor and an interest in hospitality or event coordination within an academic or healthcare setting. Expected Salary:

$14.00 hourly

Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma or equivalent.

Valid Florida drivers license and willingness to drive office vehicles including a golf cart.

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a parttime basis up to 20 hours per week.

Successful preemployment screening including a background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office suite particularly Outlook Word and Excel.
  • Experience in a professional office environment particularly in higher education or healthcare.

Qualities:

  • Highly responsible.
  • Professional in appearance and demeanor.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team remaining flexible in your role.
  • Ability to interact professionally and appropriately with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to successfully manage multiple priorities.
